So I checked the timeline.
(click to show/hide)Luke's Jedi Academy is destroyed in 28 ABY, approximately 19 years after Luke helps rescue Grogu. Given that Grogu is approximately 50 years old at the time Luke arrived (funnily enough the same age that Anakin would've been) and is still a toddler, I can't really see him choosing his own path, as that would have him as a child.
