--- Quote from: Farideh on 18 Feb 2021, 18:31 ---Awww, poor Claire. She's right though: the first rejection IS a milestone. As long as she thinks of it as practice, she'll be good.

She’s also pretty lucky.  My applications just seem to end up in a memory-hole.

Small number of qualified applicants, even smaller number of people who could be hired for it due to experience, so I'm guessing she was one of if not the final applicant compared with a lot of other "don't call us, we'll call you" applicants.

But the gut feeling in me from too many experiences with local politics and government-run places like the library is that someone had the job posted online only because the law required it and actually the position was filled without looking at anyone. But that's just my gut, Jephh probably never saw how the locals really work behind the scenes :(

BenRG:
All I can say, Claire, is that I've been there too often. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that you eventually develop an exposure immunity to it! Marten, follow her and give her a hug. I suspect that she really needs just your presence, not any words.

Well, that was a week... no an arc of nothing really happening I guess. Something that could have been resolved in three strips got expanded to ten to introduce... someone whose role in the strip probably is now as developed as it will ever be.

Magniras:
Now I know this is a fantasy comic, a job sent a rejection letter. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Pain.

cybersmurf:
I wish I had received rejection notifications for everything, and in a timely fashion. Once, I got a rejection email several months later...

Also, let's hope Hadley Regional Library has done their due dilligence before rejecting Claire...

Is it cold in here?:
CHIX NIX DIX PIX

I Googled that after coming up with it and someone had beaten me to it.

Turns out this is not an occasional problem, and has actually prompted an attempt at legislation: https://theslot.jezebel.com/male-senators-shot-down-a-virginia-bill-that-would-have-1846303727
