Obviously all AIs of QC happened after the singularity, so none of them can be very old, at least not as sentient beings.

I dont think AIs would be disgusted at open computer hardware. They dont have any feeling in that hardware. And its clean. Usually, anyway.

Uhm, no? There were plenty of AIs in QC before the Singularity. There was a comic with Pintsize complaining that he didn't feel any different when it happened.
