Oingo Boingo - Nothing to Fear
Oingo Boingo - Good For Your Soul

Both on vinyl. 8 bucks. As well as a used copy of Viewtiful Joe, but that's another topic.

Something For Kate - Elsewhere for 8 minutes
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Massive Attack - Blue Lines
Wolfmother - S/T
Dream Theater - Train of Thought
Spinal Tap - This is Spinal Tap (I thought I was seeing shit when I saw this in the record store. Apparently they have another album as well. Fucking weird)
The Decemberists - Picaresque

I mostly cope with holiday stress by buying a whole bunch of CDs.

Dream Theater - Octavarium
Pain of Salvation - Entropia
Star One - Space Metal

The last two were bought off amazon.com, via gift certificate purchased with my loose change. Avoiding coin counting fees by getting credit to a place you'd probably spend the money anyway ftw.

I finally got around to buying the Decemberists' Her Majesty.  Damn, I should have bought this months ago!  I like it a hell of a lot more than Picaresque.  In fact, it's almost as good as Castaways and Cutouts.

I also got the Mountain Goats' We Shall All Be Healed.  Also very good, also possibly underrated by a lot of people.  But now I'm sad because I'm rapidly running out of Mountain Goats C.D.s to buy (having in 2005 also bought Nine Black Poppies, Zopilote Machine, Nothing for Juice, Full Force Galesburg, Sweden, The Coroner's Gambit, All Hail West Texas, Tallahassee, the Sunset Tree, Bitter Melon Farm, Protein Source of the Future . . . Now!, and Ghana.)

Aztec Camera - Stray
Ciccone Youth - The Whitey Album (Sonic Youth & Mike Watt tribute to Madonna... been looking for this at Amoeba for over a year)

If you're talking about the one in Berkeley, then I actually prefer the huge Rasputin two blocks down. Bigger selection, and it's broken down by genre better.

No, actually I made the trip into SF to go to the Haight Street Amoeba.  Beats both the Berkeley Amoeba and Rasputin.  I'm actually not a huge Rasputin fan myself, but then again I'm not a huge fan of the Berkeley Amoeba and I'll agree that it's arguable that the Berkeley Rasputin is laid out better.

I just got + initial thoughts:

System of a Down - Hypnotize - ...it's kind of boring.
Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene - What I expected. So, good.
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain - Love this album, but I did when I had it illegally as well.
Audioslave - Out Of Exile - Disappointing.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell - Pretty rocking. Is Karen O having sex, though? Seems like it.
Orgy - Vapor Transmission - I first listened to this album at a friends house, because I normally don't really dig the electronic stuff in metal, but damn, this album is CATCHY. I didn't expect that since I pretty much hated Candyass.

Hawkwind - Doremi Fasol Latido / In Search Of Space

I think this is the stuff my Dad used to get stoned to all those years ago... Classic psychadelic sci-fi nerd rock.

Sheavy - Republic?

It's rare that an album hooks me on the first listen. Brilliant if you like awesome riffs and Ozzy style vocals.

Hawkwind are so awesome it hurts. I have (to my knowledge, the guy who compiled the torrent may have missed a few*) their entire discog.

*And by that, I mean hundreds. Of course, Hawkwind has a good 93,000 records anyways.

Oh boy, I'm super-terrifically excited because Polyester Records here in Melbourne has just started stocking the entire Archers of Loaf back-catalogue - I'm listening to Icky Mettle right now.  "Web in Front" is just as brilliant as I remember it, twelve years after I first heard it in high-school!  I've been looking in every single record store I've ever entered in Australia for this record ever since then, and this is the first time I've ever seen it.

Shit yeah.

Opeth is better for crazy guitar solos (which Arjen doesn't do much), but Ayreon is really just more complex in song structure and arrangments, and of course the really intricate storylines. Not to mention that he's got great vocalists on every single album.

Speaking of which, Khar, which is the Ayreon album with Dickinson in it? I have The Human Equation and Into the Electric Castle, and he's not in either of those.
