Belle and Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress
Beck - Odelay
The Strokes- Is This It

ani difranco - out of range
i'll never find anything bad to say about ani. this one's not my favorite, but there's always something to love about each album.

belle and sebastian - i'm a cuckoo
you can't really go wrong with these people. they're just enjoyable.

bright eyes - every day and every night
at this point, i'm just building a collection. it's a good listen, but not something i'd keep on constant rotation.

I picked the Pink Mountaintops and Blood Meridian's album while at the Black Mountain show. The guy from Ladyhawk who was doing the merch didn't know the Canadian prices of everything and wanted to give me both CDs for $20.

I felt guilty and told him that they usually sell for $15 at shows.

I got the Offspring Greatest Hits album about a month ago, and bought Lifehouse's self-titled second album last night. If you liked No Name Face, then this is worth getting.

Björk - Medúlla and Vespertine
At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism

the last one is good but Gibbard does nothing for me lyrically and vocally.

I haven't actually purchased any music in a while, but I work for a website as a music critic, so the latest CD I received was Takk by Sigur Ros.

When it's bad, like the crazy little horn waltz about 20 minutes in, it's really bad. But when it's good...it's literally the most beautiful music i've ever heard.

PICTURE OF AWESOME ALBUM

Lucky bastard; I can't get ahold of really anything Patton does but Bungle or Faith No More (Which I'm pretty much just "meh" to).

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Preordered:
Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
Animal Collective - Feels
Broken Social Scene - s/t
Gravenhurst - Fires in Distant Buildings

..apparently amazon estimates that it'll ship at the end of the month.  grr to one shipment orders considering the bss one is almost out darnit!  at least I have heard it already ;D

Also ordered last night since insound was doing some question/25% off deal:
Iron and Wine / Calexico - In The Reins
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm Remixed
Calla - Collisions
American Analog Set - Set Free

---

Last album I actually have already gotten:
Sigur Rós - Takk.. (the special edition one; it seems a bit of a rip-off considering I thought it'd have more art... it's still a lovely little hardback book nonetheless)

The last CD purchases I remember making:

Metric - Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News
Sparta - Porcelain

Metric wasn't as good as I thought it would be but still good.
Modest Mouse was good.
Sparta kind of suck and I'm not sure why I chose them.
Still, they were all worth the 3 for $30 deal in the end. YAY!

Because Wiretap Scars showed promise after the ATDI and you're slightly in denial of how disapointing everything off of Porcelain is.

At least that's how I feel about it.

I actually haven't heard anything on Wiretap Scars.. or anything by Sparta up until the purchase. I really love ATDI though, and if living in North America has taught me anything it's that only suckers do not tackle every stupid deal they see, which in this case was the 3-for-30 deal. And nobody wants to look like a chump who clearly cannot understand the true meaning of value!
So I just grabbed Sparta in the hopes that maybe I would like them too.

BUT HOW WRONG I WAS

Wiretap Scars is still mildly disapointing, but a few great songs like "Sans Cosm" that have just undeniable hooks make it worth it.

The Fall-This Nation's Saving Grace CD

Gotta be in my top ten all time favourites - probably one of the most accessible Fall albums - I could listen to LA on it all day long!

Most recent revelation for me: My Computer - No CV
It's a real mash of electronica, guitars and epic mood swings.

The Londonist carries a pretty upbeat review - and a link to one of the highlights of the album: http://www.londonist.com/archives/2005/07/monday_music_re_15.php

On the topic of amazing, I bought the new 65daysofstatic album on Wednesday. Goddamn is it good. Epic, baby.

Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante

I stood with MC5 - Kick Out the Jams, (Smog) - Supper, Portishead - Portishead, Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs and Joni Mitchell - Blue.
But I couldn't afford them all and then I saw Mr. Bungle on the shelf and thought "Fuck it, I am gonna buy a slice of madness!"
And then I had to put them all back in their place ;)

Oh damn I regret buying Disco Volante now, I need something with more lyrics. Meh. I should have bought Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister.
I am always like this, I buy a cd and then I spend maybe a week regretting it. Hopefully it will solve itself, namely that I get some money for more cds at a time. Revolutionary concept.
