The Forced Listening Thread
La Creme:
That one isn't very mixed. I've no idea where you got punk from that one. Not to opunk to me. The sax solo is very "free jazz" (a la Ornette Coleman), so it's got a little of that. And yes, the scratching should be louder. The video version's much better. It's got more organ and stuff.
Their top fusiony songs are definately "Foursome" (a ska-jazz take on Miles Davis' 'Four', but alterred and with a brilliant sax solo) and "Bad Toupee" or "Sate" (metal-jazz-ska-punk). Also "Scram" has a little bit of everything too, plus a great horn-and-distorted-guitar fanfare.
KharBevNor:
The vocals sounded pretty punk. And the way he kept going 'Ska meets bronx', or whatever it was. I presumed that had something to do with NY Hardcore? I dunno...
La Creme:
Nothing to do with NY Hardcore. Mephiskapheles are just bad motherfuckers. They would whip the ass of nearly anyone with their combined demonicosity and kick-ass drummer and sax player. The guitarist leaves a lot to be desired, I will admit. And the singer isn't that great when he's not yelling or "rapping" (a la Neville Staple). Ska means the Bronx is just him "representin'" I guess. He's black, so I suppose he can get away with that sort of thing. Even though he's not rapping.
KharBevNor:
I see...
Still, I just don't like Ska. :P Something about it. That was good though, I can tell. Just...it was ska.

Cradle of Filth - Queen of Winter, Throned
It starts off with some pretty cool guitar, and that guy's voice almost made me wet myself. I am also against talking during a song instead of singing. At 5:40 left (iTunes displays it like that and I'm kinda too lazy to convert it) the womans voice becomes more pornounced for a bt making it very eerie. This is very, very stereotypical metal. Again at about 3:60 left there is a cool use of eerie voices, this time in harmony. That is where this song, I feel shines. But unfortunately it if filled with time like 2:57 until the end where they just talk. It sounds so unpleasant. At 2:29 to the finish you hear a few notes from their bass (vocal type). It however loses all dignity when it soon falls to orgasm sounds and screaming. Oh the screaming. I think that this song would be much more bearable if the guy with the really deep voice shot their screamer and dragged his corpse around until he made no more sound.
I am giving this song a 2/10, sorry.
I next choose Ban the Tube Top by Reel Big Fish
I'm in a ska-tastic mood.
