Heres some of may faves. Mainly valley folk, one LA. I have to mention the LA band cause I worked with them for over a yr and they rock :)
Virgil LA goodness
UVR Tracy goodness
Honeyspot Sacramento goodness (another one I worked with, though not as good as Virgil ;))
Flying Blind Modesto goodness that moved to LA (you might have heard them on the American Pie 2 sound track. No? I doubted you had too)
Transport I forget where they are from goodness (can also be found on myspace)
Megan Slankard Tracy goodness (buy her CDs on Amazon!)
Grandaddy Modesto goodness that has hit it well (yes I saw/heard them before you! bwahahaha!)
Also worth mentioning (and too lazy to look up for you):
Willknots (they went poof from the net... not sure what happened there)
Hollopoynt
Vegas De Milo
Waterneck (broken up, but not forgotten)
eddited for neatness :)

Deathamphetamine - Wicked awesome death metal/grind. I think if these guys can get on a label they could become quite popular with the underground/extreme metal folks. Also, they are some really nice guys.

Northern Aggression - Bluegrass. Fun bluegrass.
Those are both awesome UMass bands. Wasteland is great too, but I know little of them, the one time I saw them I was impressed.
