How do others respond to your musical taste?

Normally it's me bitching about their music.

I get a 'Why are you listening to country?' quite often. This is when I'm listening to Beck or Bright Eyes. Also happened once when I was listening to the Gorillaz. wtf?

People think I'm weird because of the mix of music I listen to... everything from country to pop to rock... I basically listen to everything, and no matter what I play, I'm sure to get laughed at, so around my friends I just listen to whatever CDs they put in because they're sure to hate whatever I have (there was an interesting incident where my friend told me that if I played my Verve CD, she would strangle me, then I played it and she actually tried to)

I'd be happy of that comment if I was listening to some messed up Industiral or Experimental Noise.

Usually they raise one eyebrow an ask "Who is this?" followed by "Cool, can I borrow the CD?

Then I never see the CD again.
