i always thought that hitch in the riff was intentional.

Radiowar:
Nope never liked Led Zepplin. They're boring. Even John Bonham who was a wicked ass drummer thought a 20 minute drum fill = entertainment.

Ditto, I figured why would they end up putting it on an album if it was fucked up?

Bonham wasn't a great drummer. All he did was hit the set really hard. I never liked Moby Dick, either. There's a reason why people don't like pretentious progressive music.

As for them being boring? I wouldn't say that. They actually had VARIETY. Something most metal/hard rock bands lack.

And as for the riff, intentional or not, I still think it sucks. It's no excuse. Tempo slips are unforgivable and are the reason people use restraint in their guitar playing. As one of the members of Mock Orange once said: "If you can play 6 notes and make it sound cool, it's a lot more effective than playing as many notes as fast as you can."

KharBevNor:
^ What the hell are you talking about. That's a tight riff. If the 'tempo slip' was inexcusable why was it done the same way on ever repetition of the riff and why did the drums follow it exactly? It's just groove, ffs. The riff wouldn't sound as good without it.
