HEATHEN!  well not really...but i guess its my dad's fault but Zep are cool as are Wishbone Ash and the Who and all of them...anyway...if you don't like Zep don't post...this is about the opinion on the best Zep song its not for people who don't care one way or another...actually is kinda is a roundabout way...i like roundabouts ^_^

Tangerine is probably my fav zep song.  I get drunk and play it on acoustic guitar at parties.

That's The Way and The Ocean are also great songs, but any zeppelin record you throw on has at least a couple of good ones.

Fuck individual songs, The way zep played live shows everything flowed seamlessly the gods of thunder writhing and soaring in a druggy haze of mountanious blues pushed to 11, Thats right people 11!!!!
I love robert plants lyrics, Dramatic nonsense that had every greasy 70's teen (aka your parents) trying to build there own personal faith on the houses of the holy LP.
If only there were still people out there with the balls to create that kind of energy. *sigh*

Man, I haven't listened to zepplin in ages. I like No Quarter myself, the stuff they do with the synthesizers especially the bass part always gets me. I just found a copy of IV on vinyl that doesn't look like its a frisbee. Have to try it out tomorrow. Also, Trampled Underfoot rules.

I assure you there are, just look a bit harder. True, there aren't really any bands with that sort of energy big enough to do stadiums anymore, which is a shame.

Quite hard choice, to be frank.

My personal favourite is probably D'yer Maker. I don't know why but I think it's really nice, even though it's quite different from the rest of their stuff.

Runners up in no particular order would be: Heartbreaker, Immigrant Song (OOOOOAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAAAAHHHH!!! indeed, sir kharbevnor), Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You, Black Dog, Rain Song (is it really called that? I've only got a shady mp3), Rock & Roll, Communication Breakdown, Whole Lotta Love, all their long live extravaganzas, everything else.

Maybe, But zep was just huge, A force of nature if you will.
Thanks for the salute on the sig, Its referencing The band Alexisonfire And yes  Serenity Rose Both ironically share the heart shaped skull logo. I have an alexisonfire hoodie with the heart/skull logo and people always confuse it with SR.

For their ability to make it long, and powerful as hell live, I'd have to say The Ocean. Off of CD? Immigrant Song. Acousticer song off CD? Going To California.

Was it just to day some dumb bitch in my 7th period said: "Why don't you like Stairway to Heaven? That's, like, Led Zeppelin's best song. He is soooo good." I love that. People so stupid they think Zep was one person. This is LA, home of the asshole elitist smartass pigfuckers.

Off-topic but yeah im aware i just like random capitalization blame the hyperactive disorder if you will, Ive heard the name has its origins in a lactating contortionist stripper named alexis fire. Hence why i love them.

Comparing two Zeppelin songs is often like comparing a Pink Floyd song to an AC/DC song.  Zeppelin had no clue what genre they were playing in (which I think was totally awesome, and I think more bands need to do that), so many of their songs are completely uncomparable.  I mean, ,how can you compare No Quarter to Dyer Maker to Bron-y-aur Stomp to Black Dog?  You can't.

Back on topic though, Stairway To Heaven is a fucking amazing song.  It's just not their best in my humble opinion.

Most of the stuff I listen to is genre bending, so I'll stay out, just with the caveat to say that Kristoffer Rygg (Aka Garm aka Trickster G.) totally and utterly blows Patton out the water with everything he's done (Arcturus, Borknagar, Ulver) and Andreas Hedlund, aka Vintersorg's not far behind him.

Bonham wasn't a great drummer. All he did was hit the set really hard. I never liked Moby Dick, either. There's a reason why people don't like pretentious progressive music.

As for them being boring? I wouldn't say that. They actually had VARIETY. Something most metal/hard rock bands lack.

And as for the riff, intentional or not, I still think it sucks. It's no excuse. Tempo slips are unforgivable and are the reason people use restraint in their guitar playing. As one of the members of Mock Orange once said: "If you can play 6 notes and make it sound cool, it's a lot more effective than playing as many notes as fast as you can."

^ What the hell are you talking about. That's a tight riff. If the 'tempo slip' was inexcusable why was it done the same way on ever repetition of the riff and why did the drums follow it exactly? It's just groove, ffs. The riff wouldn't sound as good without it.
