I shed tears, too, but they were tears of joy.  I really can't stand Phish.  They're like a poor photocopy of the Grateful Dead, and the Dead weren't even all that great.  People nowadays are obsessed with them just because Jerry Garcia is dead and has an ice cream flavor named after him.

Oh crap, I blasphemed again.

This thread is much better than the "Jeph is wrong" one.  There is a right way and a wrong way to put things

I'm a big fan of jam bands myself.  There are a lot of shitty ones out there though.  It's sometimes hard to see the wheat for all the chaff.

Basically it comes down to me listening to way too much Phish.  I can certainly see them doing a reunion tour in the future.  In the mean time I would like to see more independent stuff from Trey, and collaborations, like Oysterhead.

Trey is playing Bonnaroo this year.  Along with Modest Mouse, Mouse on Mars, and Jurassic-5, among all the others.  Dirty Indhiphoppies (as Jeph put it).

I'm also a bit of a Strangefolk fan.  On the other hand, O.A.R. can slarve my dode.

The Mars Volta.

Bonnaroo is going to kick so much ass!! i've got an old VW vanagon camper and i'm road trippin from Maryland the 9th, sweet. only bad thing is no string cheese this year, very sad. but it's still gonna kick ass livin out of the van for four days. i guess i'd fall very near to indiehiphoppie except my appreciation of rap (unless the hiphop is in there by accideny) is limited to the good stuff, MF Doom and the Streets are favs.

Since we seem to be following a trend of accepting people's right to their own opinion....

I disagree with you, I personally do not enjoy The Mars Volta but this in no way means that you cannot enjoy their meaningless twiddling.
