Everyone, thanks for the recommendations so far- I shall attempt to look into all of them =D Aww shucks no hating on the Pumpkins in this topic! =P They're just that one band that I am dedicated to, because they have so much lasting value, and they were kind of my gateway band into better music. Even if you don't like their music, you can't deny that they have the skills.

Honestly, I kinda don't like the Pixies >_> I've listened to Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, and the Death to the Pixies greatest hits- nothing just really grabbed me, sorry o_o //music taste has no cred.

Khar does. But I'll throw Manowar and Dragonforce into the ring... and then probably get told they're not power by Khar in a minute. But they're bloody good.

Ahem:
Dragonforce, Domine, Avantasia, Wuthering Heights, Tad Morose, Rhapsody, Edguy, Turisas, Morgana LaFey, Angra, Dream Evil, Falconer, Sonata Arctica, Demons and Wizards, Secret Sphere, Primal Fear. For cheesy as crap but very cool stuff, Ninja Magic and Winterlong. Also, Therion's latest twin album, Sirius B in particular, are pretty power, and pretty damn cool too. Operatic metal for the win!
Heavy Metal that is similiar in theme: Manowar, 3 Inches of Blood, Hammerfall, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest (if you HAVEN'T heard those two DO SO NOW), Viking Skull, Iced Earth I suppose.
If you start liking that kind of stuff, some good Battle and Viking Metal might also be in order: Ensiferum, Later Bal-Sagoth and Bathory's Viking albums: Hammerheart, Blood on Ice and the Nordland albums in particular, though they all rock.
Hell, just download these tracks. This was a CD that came with an issue of Metal Hammer a few months ago and almost single-handedly restored my faith in the metal press:
