Probably not.

El-P and Company Flow. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Oh, and pretty much everyone on Anticon.

SeanBateman:
I love this thread because it starts again and again and again. And it says the same things every time, but I read it every time.
Dr. Dre is Teh win, so is NWA, Tribe, Aceyalone, and blackalicious.
Also, I'm seeing wilco with the roots!

I tend to like the variants of hip-hop sometimes called "fusion": usually a blend of jazz and hip-hop... think, Cantaloop by US3, "Cool Like Dat" by Diggable Planet, etc.  AND stuff with really good lyrics and/or amazing rhymes: "Television The Drug Of The Nation" by Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy and "You Wash Your Face In My Sink" by Dream Warrior.  "Step Right Up" by Tom Waits is another example of what I like, although most people wouldn't consider him "hip hop", this particular song is all rhyming jazz over a bass-and-sax jazz riff.

Admittedly, the examples I mentioned are "old" (in a relative sense) but well worth your time to check out. If you can find the Dream Warrior online, I'd be surprised.. I don't know the law about posting MP3s of bands that don't exist anymore (I don't think they do anyway) or I'd post this one somewhere.

La Creme:

--- Quote ---The Roots
Mos-Def
Common
Jurrassic 5
A Tribe Called Quest
Kanye West
--- End quote ---

This list, with the exception of Kanye West, who i hate with a passion, is almost perfect. It just needs MF Doom (king gedorah, bitch), and Michael Franti, who, while being a total fucking hippie, also manages to make some incredibley true and fucking hilarious rhymes. Check out his song "Oh My God".

"Hell, I shot Ronald Reagon and I shot JFK. I slept with Marilyn, she sung me happy birthday"

Psiogen:
Lots of great stuff has already been mentioned, but why is there no love for the Antipop Consortium, eh? EH????
