The 'Must Have' List

<< < (18/21) > >>

Merkava:
Yeah, my friend thinks I have bad taste because I don't think Beck's Guerro is the best album ever.

See what I have to deal with? I'm not even sure why we're still friends. XP

esacetaminophen:
Well, most of the stuff that's already been said is awesome, but here's a few things that I think were left off.

Anything by the Fall, but especially "Hex Enduction Hour"

Also, The first six Elvis Costello CDs (My Aim is True, This Year's Model, Armed Forces, Get Happy, Trust, Imperial Bedroom)

And I might have missed it, but I didn't see any Bjork either. Get anything by her, it all rules.

Mmm...to give my PERSONAL opinion (as in, what I personally think and not meant in any way to be taken as gospel because there seems to be a disconnect in this thread with expressing opinion and giving a command), I'd say that Life's Too Good by the Sugarcubes is definately worth a listen, as are Post and Vespertine as well as the remix albums.   Debut isn't bad, but many of the songs still had a "Sugarcubes" ring to them, as if she hadn't quite found her style yet.  Homogenic, which I think is stylistically some of her finest work (due largely in part to Mark Bell), suffers from lyrical ineptitude (a lot of the songs sound like something a wounded teenager would write in a bad poetry journal kept under his/her pillow), and while none of her songs are lyrically brilliant, I think I was expecting more from this album because it was such a leap from her previous work..  Medulla was an interesting experiment, but pushes the boundaries for eccentricities a bit too much.

At least, that's what I think.

You didn't, I just summarized your second list into one sentence.

saturnine1979:
In retrospect, DFA1979 should be on my must-have list. "Cold War" convinced me the other day.
