Late last month I went to SDSU's Open air Amphatheater where I saw Pinback, Kasabian, Nada Surf, Rocket from the Crypt, The Raveonettes, and Lady Dotty and the somethings (a local blues/jazz band I can't recall the full name to). All in all it was $24 well spent and we got to sit center almost at the very bottom. Well worth the money.
In July I will be seeing Sufjan Stevens on July 15 at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach while on the 29th and 30th I'll be going to San Diego Street Scene 2005. It's a two day event which costs $70 plus a $7 service charge for a two day pass but I think it is worth it. Here's the line up:
Friday July 29th
-The Killers
-White Stripe
-Social Distortion
-Black Eyed Peas
-Garbage
-Flogging Molly
-Louis XIV
-Rise Against
-Hot Hot Heat
-Kasabian (so them last month and I liked them)
-Autolux
-The International Noise Conspiracy
-The Adolescents
-Morning Wood
-Hard Fi
-Dead 60's
-Trans-Global Underground
-Something for Rockets
-Mocean Worker
Saturday July 30
-Pixies
-Snoop Dog
-Flaming Lips
-311
-Dash Board Confessional
-The Used
-Method Man
-Unwritten Law
-Death Cab for Cutie
-Von Blondies (I saw this Danish group last month too. They're thumbs up.)
-Mix Master Mike
-Spoon
-Swollen Members
-The Locust
-The Preceptionists
-Particle
-Viva Voce
-Gram Rabbit
I only know about half of those bands so I'm not sure which to see and which to skip. Any suggestions? I'm kind of pissed that they're moving it to the stadium this year as normally they just block off a portion of down town and everyone just wonders around among the various stages while stopping off at the numerous bars and pubs in that area. Good music and lots of booze; now that's my kind of gig. Now there will just be the over priced piss beer they sell at the football stadium.
