TV on the Radio and Yeah Yeah Yeahs

TV on the Radio and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are working on new albums, both in Staygold Studios, pretty much one after the other.

I'm very excited by the prospect of new discs from these bands. TV on the Radio have released a track list but they haven't said anything much about what it's going to sound like, apart from "very large, full production, personal, anthemic, and worthy of makeout sessions with the sky", whatever that means.

Karen O of the YYYs has hinted at a quieter second album with less vocal distortion, even some folkier stuff (relative to what they've done before, I'm guessing). She said recently "There's aspects of my persona - of Karen O - that I'm definitely adverse to at this point." I'm thinking more songs like "Maps", which can only be a good thing IMO.

You can check out Pitchfork for the full info.

Anyone else looking forward to when these albums see the light of day?

I liked "Y Control" and everything off of The Yeah Yeah Yeah's EP. Maybe if they did stuff like that.

TV on the Radio is consistently a-ok.

I am very excited for both actually.  I held the Young Liars EP in my hand today but didn't buy it.  I totally should have.  (I have the LP and the New Health Rock single).  And as for YYYs I really liked the first LP.

Is TV on the Radio still on Touch and Go?

lastclearchance, you should definitely get the Young Liars EP. It's just plain awesome. I am in awe of its awesomeness. The cover of "Mr Grieves" would be worth the price of admission alone, but the original songs are just frikkin amazing too. *jism face*

"Y Control" is probably my favourite YYYs song, although "Maps" would be its closest rival for my attention. I liked the second half of Fever To Tell better than the first, so obviously I'm pretty happy that they seem to be expanding on their quieter side.

i think most everyone is excited to hear a YYYs record that sounds like the second half of Fever To Tell+"Hello Tomorrow".

I originally thought "Hello Tomorrow" was done by the girl from the Moldy Peaches because I had no idea Karen O's voice could be that restrained and subtle. Looking back, "Modern Romance" definitely hints at that, but I would love an album of folk type stuff like "Hello Tomorrow".

Oh, and <3 TV on the Radio.

I've caught both of these bands live and I have to say that they both performed really well and were super nice people.

I would go see either of them again in a heartbeat.

I dig TVOTR. I only have the "Young Liars" EP, need to check out the full length. I've heard it was a little spacier.

I'm so-so on YYY. "Fever to tell" was pretty good, but it didn't keep my interest, and I think the distortion on the vocals was a big part of that.

That's exciting news, well, the TV on the Radio news...

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs annoy the hell out of me.

The Cinema Eye did what they try to do, but 100x better.
