I Like Shitty Music!
Kid Modernist:
I used to really get into AFI, Smash Mouth, and MxPx back in the day. Still do occaisionally.
Plus, Candy Girl by the Jackson five? Awesome.
onewheelwizzard:
OK, about that ludicrous drumset ... how many different sounds can cymbals and bass drums have? How many different drum sounds does that kit create, and how many are TOTALLY UNNECESSARY? How many of those drums does he never actually use?
I'd call that a rhetorical and sarcastic non-question, but now I honestly want to know what his justification is for having a monstrosity like that.
KharBevNor:
Lots of money/roadies and a small wang?
SpacemanSpiff:
--- Quote from: KharBevNor ---Ever heard of hyperbole? I was thinking mainly of an incident where I dared to state on another forum that Dan Carey was not the best drummer in the world, and had a picture of his drumkit posted back at me as 'proof'.
I mean, it was entertaining but wtf?
--- End quote ---
I was kidding as well. Personally, I think all these huge kits are ridiculous. I mean, Carey actually uses different toms because they're tuned to different tones. Now, I don't know if any of you have ever tried tuning a tom, but let me tell you something: It's hard and they detune really fast. In short: Nobody really needs that.
Personally, I always prefer a small kit. My ideal kit would only be snare, bass-drum and two toms (and cymbals, of course).

--- Quote from: SpacemanSpiff ---In that case, I sort of wonder why I started drumming in the first place. Damn.

Aww, looks like someone got the drum version of the I-just-saw-Yngwies.
--- End quote ---
Hehe. I'm also trying to learn how to play guitar. I know who I will avoid. :p
But seriously, it's not as bad, really. I mean, listen to either DEP, Tool, Mars Volta, Slayer, Fantomas or whatever and you're exposed to a level of drumming you will most likely never reach.
Marvel at the awesomeness, then go back to improving your technique, I say.
rawrXskittles:
I deem SlipKnot's drummer the best in the univarse. I love that kid, he plays really good. I do know he has two other drummers, but they don't do a whole lot. I just love SlipKnot.
Also, who or what are Yngwies? Some...crazy indie band, my spidey-sense tells me.
I'm going to go with the popular conception of "suck" here...
I listen to:
the White Stripes (with much joy)
new Green Day
Modest Mouse
Cradle of Filth
The Sex Pistols
and the ultimate "I can't believe I like this crap"...Insane Clown Posse.
Also, I absolutely love Marilyn Manson, NIN and Jack Off Jill. Best bands in the history of forever. Even though NIN is just pretty much one guy.
