My friend spode has this hobby of doing covers of songs, using only his voice. He sings the guitar parts and everything!

I thought all you music geeks might apreciate hearing some of them. I know naff all about singing and couldnt carry a tune in a bucket, but i got a kick out of them all the same.

This is his magnum opus: scartissue by the red hot chilli peppers, recorded at 2am after he got back from the pub, with a webcam microphone. This one really shows what an amazing singer he is. Theres no pitch correction in ANY of the things he records.

Then this is his take on Minnie Ripperton's "loving you". Yes, he's male.. Yes, he really can sing at that pitch. The backings just a MIDI.

He did this one just to prove he can hit the low(ish) notes as well. This ones my personal fave i think, not sure why though.

"road trippin" Another red hot chilli peppers one. Its more polished, but maybe doesnt have the same impact. Its more a conventional cover really.

This is his latest, the song was written by the band of a friend of his that i dont know myself unfortunately. I think spodes got a bit creative with the reverb etc here, but its all his voice.

Hes really getting into doing this as a sort of hobby, so with a bit of luck there will be more masterpieces in the future.

Everyone reckons he sounds like whatshisface from placebo. Hes a "natural soprano" whatever that means. All i know is he can make your earwax melt when he does scales.

It means he can reach soprano notes in natural voice without having to use falsetto (though, he does seem to use falsetto a lot)
