ok, i have to admit, i've never heard any of their recorded stuff, but when i saw them with interpol, i was thoroughly unimpressed. actually, when the lead singer came out i started laughing (i'm sorry, but an ugly overweight guy in an entirely too small women's sports jacket is really funny to me), and then they proceeded to justify my scorn by making asses of themselves and by playing a set that reminded me of a really bad battle of the bands i once attended. the band who won basically sat on stage, screamed, made funny noises, and hit random stuff with large wooden objects. and everyone was like "yeeeaahhhh!!!'
i threw up.
seriously.
i'll admit they were interesting, but fuck, trainwrecks are interesting. that's what they sounded like to me. they tried to pass themselves off as intelligent, different, and fresh, but just because you dance around on stage like an idiot, play dissonant chords with techno beats, whisper-sing, and wear stupid lime green t-shirts, it doesn't make you good or cool or intelligent at all.
best quote of the night came from my 3 pinted, irish car-bombed friend:: "man, there's nothing like really bad music to sober you up. interpol better fucking rock"
and they did.
