So, letīs share our music :)
Saturday:
--- Quote from: Hatebunny ---That first track is pretty good, Saturday. Reminds me of a mix of Radiohead instrumentals, The Album Leaf, and...something else.
I like the second track better, though. Much more oriented toward my style of music with the piano in there, making everything sound a bit sadder.
I like the last track a lot too. It reminds me a lot of sigur Ros or godspeed you Black emperor (moreso the latter.) I'd buy your album, I think, if you sold one. I'd love to know how you pull off that whiney E-bow type sound in the background of the last song. ...Yes, this is definitely my favourite of the three tracks. It'd be nice if you could get the recording to sound a bit more high-end. It's a bit muffled, but I suppose that's what being indie's all about...
--- End quote ---
Thanks for the comments!... and yup the third track is almost a gybe ripoff...
iīm planning on making an album, but it will be different. It will be a pop-rock album, basically, just all songs with verse-chorus structure, and with guest singers. iīm pretty happy for now with the songs. perhaps all the other instrumental tracks that i make can fill an album of sorts.
The E-Bow type sound in the background is the easiest trick ever.. i use it in the 3 tracks i guess... just using some very nasty distortion with LOADS (i mean loads) of reverb with my guitar. so much reverb that the original (dry) signal is lost. then you play high in the fretboard and thatīs it.
i use a behringer v-amp 2, and use the marshall or mesa boogie models for distortion, then the highest option for reverb, turned fully on, and thatīs it. i guess you can achieve the same effect with any distortion and reverb effect. hope it helps.
about the production: yup itīs not perfect and it needs more of a balance in the highs and mids. i just bought my first studio monitors some months ago and these tracks were the first thing i mixed with them, and also in a short time (everything done in week) so it could be much better of course.
suicidebears:
i have a couple projects. i'm a drummer.
my main band is called scales of motion. kinda post-hardcore, kinda indie rock, just listen. it's good songwriting. http://www.myspace.com/scalesofmotion
i was in a band called oxus serves alexander, we were off and on for about two years, and the end result was that we recorded our best song in a recent session for another project i was working on. the oxus is technical hardcore. i also did vocals. http://server3.hxcmp3.com/bands/26550/index.php
my last band is called copycopy. it's kinda just weird hardcore punk that's just fun and goofy, slightly refused influenced but harder edged.

listen and comment plz. i'd like that.
Saturday:
i dug the bass, drum and guitar work, but i find that the voice is lacking a bit. nothing serious, but maybe it sounds a bit too 'average' for my taste.
the rest of the band is really tight which i dig. the passage between different parts is well done too.
Hatebunny:
heh, Saturday, I'd love to collaborate with you, somehow on some instrumental style stuff. I'm not that skilled a guitarist or anything, but I've had about 5 years of experience in terms of digital music and recording. I could program some crazy drums, or ambient effects, or just...throw whatever on...and I could do some digital editing and mastering as well.
Just a thought...*Shrugs*
Oh, thanks for the instruction on the E-bow...It just doesn't come out the same way on my guitar. :/ My amp doesn't have it's own reverb effects, so I'm running it through a zoom607 Bass effects pedal, which is quite different, but it still sounds cool. I might be using it sometime.
yipjumpmusic:
saturday: can't seem to get onto that site
hatebunny: not my usual stuff though not outside my range. Overall not bad at all, good in fact, and I agree the first is my favorite though a couple others were at least up there trying to compete for 1st :P
suicidebears: only this much cause you asked for comment
honestly not into your current band. The first lyrics for the first song seem kinda pretentious I mean that in an all constructive criticism like attitude. The music itself does not do much for me either though that is partially just personal taste. Also, not sure if I can explain this right but I like the music in a way...but not what was done with it, hmm...did not feel in touch at all with the attitude projected by the songs which would include things like the singing, song structure, so on.
Not into much hardcore but that one is my favorite of your music.
The third listed kind of the same feeling as the first though maybe I was slightly more into it. I do like that middle part in Inca vs Aztec where the accordion or whatever it was came in.
Some day I will post my music and get my criticism but nothing is done so guess that is postponed.
