Vocal talent is not equivalent to musical talent.
Christina Aguilera has vocal talent. I wouldn't call her music "talented." I'd call it bastardized coommercialized livestock droppings. Same thing with Coldplay. Coldplay has a style that was previously associated with Radiohead and is, to a lesser extent, associated with Muse. Piano rock with tremolo vocals.
Their music is uninspired. It is an attempt to capitalize off the musical zeitgeist following Radiohead's first 3 albums. The lyrics are shitty high school love poetry. The musical parts are very simplistic. The vocals are a little complex, but there are much better vocalists out there. If I wanted to listen to choir boys, I'd become a priest....at least I'd get blowjobs as part of the bargain.
Claiming Coldplay sucks is not like claiming dogs are mutannt freaks. It is like claiming chihuahuas are mutannt disgusting freaks. Which they are. The only things more inbred than a chihuahua are Hapsburgs and West Virginians.

This is one of those sentences that sound totally hysterical when you post them on the Internet, but when you walk away from the computer you realize it's really stupid.
As far as Coldplay goes...whatever. They're so utterly bland that I simply cannot work up any strong feelings for them, positive or negative. The best thing I can say about them is that they fade into the background really nicely.

The fact that you'll find a 3-3-2 rhythm in several of their songs isn't simplism - it's the definition of their style.

Shitty high school love poetry, in my opinion, is the kind of poetry that either rhymes words for the sake of rhyme, or doesn't rhyme words at all. Poetry of this category can also include the sing-song kind of poetry that has matching numbers of syllables, but doesn't line of syllables correctly.
