So, any thoughts on the new single? I thought it was fun, stompy goodness. Damn them for releasing another self-titled though.

I haven't heard anything but the 30 second sample at iTunes.
But I'm very happy about a new album coming out.

I heard the new single and liked it... saw them at the V fesitval and they played a lot of the new material and...

I dunno... it was good, but it sounds a lot like it's going to be more of the same. I think downloading is in order before purchase. Unless it offers something a little different than the first album I probably won't bother.

Thier new single is very catchy. And very dance-able. So it's a thumbs up all round from me. I've already got that 'You're so luuuuccky!' line going round and round in my head.

The single is basically a compilation of every quirky moment from their first album...with some added synths.

I like it, even if all of their songs sound the same. My dad loves the band.

Now, what I don't see is the influence of Led Zepplin and Crunk Rap on them. They said in numerous interviews that they stuck themselves in a cabin in Scotland and listened to Led Zepplin and in-your-face crunk. They said that it would change their music a bit, but...it's the same. They lied.

And here I was looking forward to kilts and scruffy beards.

I love it how no-one talks about this band until they release something new.

I've always thought of Franz as one of those bands who, when you ask people what bands they like, people will give you a list without Franz on and then you can mention them and that person will be like 'oh, crap, yeah, I like them too... can't believe I forgot about them...'

I'm like that with Muse, as well...

Same. I always forget to tell that proverbial person that Muse > Radiohead, as well.

Heh I talk about them when they don't have new stuff. But I'm a mad rambling old fool. Yes, the new album isn't self titled, and I've heard a lot of good tracks from it. I  hope it's good.

Do You Want To is pretty awesome, even if it does make me think of Come On Eileen for some unknown reason. ;)

I hate the bit at the end when they're saying about how lucky they are :s

Made me cringe.

SO... rather than starting a new thread, I'm using this one to see if anyone has the new album now that it's been released and what they think of it.

Meh, Franz Ferdinand.  The new single is just more of the same "Meh".  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go listen to my copy of Fossil Fuel: the X.T.C. Singles 1977-92.

I like their first album better, but this one is not bad! The single I acutally do not like, but I really like "This Boy".

I thought that their first was alright. They had a couple of good songs.

I really like their single. It's grown on me.

FFII? Where I come from it's called 'You Could Have It So Much Better With...Franz Ferdinand!'

And I ADORE the single, I must say. The video's great too, the spoof of the cover of Wish You Were Here! *love*
