The other day i played Acoustic Guitar while the girl i´m dating sang "Family Tree" by Belle and Sebastian, plus other belle and sebastian and pavement songs. Beat that.

Most indie thing:

I was at a dive bar on thursday seeing a local punk band I really like (The Swayback) and some other indie bands (Soular, from New Mexico, and Weather Machines, from South Dakota) which were playing a CMJ sendoff event of some sort.  Some indie chick was trying to hit on me and I ignored her because A) I was too interested in the music, and B) she was obviously too interested.

(more A than B, but whatever)

Whee, name dropping!

1. After a Karate show in Boston, I travelled down to the Secret Stars' house in Rhode Island with Fred Thomas from Saturday Looks Good To Me, finally getting there around 3 or 4 in the morning.  Once we got there, I stayed up talking about metal with Ted Leo and Jodi Buonanno.  Fred slept in while Jodi, Ted and I went to breakfast at a health food store in the morning and spent a lot of time talking about the Magnetic Fields and Marine Research.

2. I'm 24 years old and still have absolutely no idea how to read a girl's t-shirt without being afraid that she'll think I'm staring at her chest.

It helps to look puzzled.  Unless the boobs in question are unusually large or small.  In which case, you should probably try to avoid looking puzzled, else it might be interpreted "Wow, how did boobs ever get so large/small"

Anyway, it's not like, while reading the shirt, you're not seeing the boobs.  The point is that your motivation is pure.

Boobs.  LOL.

Shirt Up!
A Novel By QHD

It was autumn and, as usual, the children had vacated the fields of summer for the angular playgrounds of the city. Michelle noted with a quiet sadness that even among the podgy young toddlers, obesity was ostricised. With a reluctant sigh, she left the shelter of the store to speak with Jared, who worked at the record store just across the road from her own place of employment, Ladyfriends, a trendy new lesbian bar that had made the managerial mistake of opening at 10 in the morning. Still, mused Michelle, at least the pay was good and there weren't so many lesbians. Michelle was straight, or thought she was, for what little good it did her. Despite her ample bosoms and curves, her taste for often politically incorrect t-shirts and her awkwardness around the opposite sex had left her with only her teddy for company ever since she left college... etc etc

in the end it turns out she's a lesbian!!

Most indie thing: Travelling back in time and listening to the Velvet Underground's debut album in front of the infant versions of Lou Reed and John Cale, then looking scornfully at them as if they "just don't get it".

I respectfully disagree!  A proper indie kid does nothing with class, if it can be avoided by any means!

Actually, I still see her on the train from time to time.
