New Bond, James Bond.
ImRonBurgundy?:
if he does, the universe will implode.
Coolhanderik:
I like the choice alot, when I saw layer cake I was like "he would make a kick ass bond" and bam here he is, soon to be drinking shaken martini's and doing super villan's lady friends.
also I don't see why everyone thinks george lazenby is so horrible, he only got one movie to be bond, he never even got a chance to settle into the role, I might be bias though, since on her majesty's secret service is my favorite bond movie, even though he's not the best bond he certainly is good enough for the part, plus the theme for the movie is so kick ass
Crash:
i heard news somewhere (possibly the Inter-web) that the new bond will be undergoing significant character reformation... not so smooth, suave, womanising or debonair. I guess a bunch of marketing goons with ponytails sat around a big table and decided to tell us what we want. Again.
After hearing this, Vin Diesel in the role would not have suprised me. Actually, i was really hoping for christian bale or eddie izzard.
LiterSize:
Well, it IS Bond's first mission, right? Only fair to show that he had a lot of refining to do back in the day.
KharBevNor:
The character in the books is a lower or middle class, chainsmoking scot who has worked his way up in the world and is always supposed to be, whilst perfectly suave and confident, a tad uneasy in the elevated circles in which he moves. He is described as having a slightly cold and ruthless, yet debonair air. Connery's early films were by far the most book-accurate portrayals. Moore and Lazenby the least, whilst Brosnan matches up reasonably well with the later novels not authored by Fleming (where, for example, Bond had stopped smoking.) Craig actually doesn't look that bad compared to Fleming's original drawing of bond:
But he really should dye his hair.
