...is absolutely godawful.

The aural joy that awaits you should you play the game or buy the album:

01. Senses Fail - Institutionalized                   03:50
   (Suicidal Tendencies)
02. Taking Back Sunday - Suburban Home / I Like Food  01:56
   (Descendents)
03. My Chemical Romance - Astro Zombies (Misfits)     02:13
04. Emanuel - Search and Destroy (The Stooges)        03:22
05. Saves The Day - Sonic Reducer (Dead Boys)         03:03
06. Dropkick Murphys - Who Is Who (Adolescents)       01:22
07. Thrice - Seeing Red/Screaming At A Wall           02:33
   (Minor Threat)
08. The Bled - House of Suffering (Bad Brains)        02:24
09. Hot Snakes - Time To Escape (Government Issue)    01:47
10. Fall Out Boy - Start Today (Gorilla Biscuits)     02:03
11. Alkaline Trio - Wash Away (T.S.O.L.)              03:28
12. Thursday - Ever Fallen In Love (Buzzcocks)        02:52
13. From Autumn To Ashes - Lets Have A War (Fear)     02:49
14. Rise Against - Fix Me (Black Flag)                00:55

Some of it happens to be ok, and may lead some kids to go seek out some older stuff so they can namedrop on their myspace but for the love of christ if Thrice and Fallout Boy aren't thrown in a woodchipper for their horrible renditions of Minor Threat and Gorilla Biscuits, respectively, then there is truly no justice in the world.

Its leaked online already. I have it. Its alright. I'm probably not going to get into punk because of it but its interesting to see these bands doing a cover of the songs. The My Chemical Romance one is pretty good. The vocals sound alot better than on Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. I doubt I would pay for this though.

"So what we'll do right, is we'll have an album of 14 tracks by kick-ass old school punk bands. BUT THERE'S A TWIST! We'll actually have these songs being covered by 14 of the most AWFUL BANDS WE CAN FIND!"

Saves the Day covering Dead Boys so does not compute.

And would it hurt for someone to cover a GB song other than "Start Today?"

Actually, I don't see what the problem is, at least based on what (admittedly little) I've heard of it. At least Thrice bangs out a rendition very true to the originals (awful production included), and Thursday do a very good Buzzcocks cover. Hell, it doesn't sound very Thursday at all.

I more object to the reasoning behind it, the reasoning being that I'm sure a lot of these bands would not agree to have the originals on the compilation. It's basically like they sold them out, without selling them out. Or something.

If there's any justice in the world, more kids will get into these groups because of this comp.

If there's any more justice left, you'll realize that Thrice's cover was true to the original, except with a different voice and slightly better recording quality.

Fall Out Boy's was...terrible, i'll give you that, but TBS didn't destroy the Descendents songs, in fact, they sound the fucking same except with the dude's voice being different. I A/B'd the TBS, My Chemical Romance and Thrice ones with their originals. There's terribly little difference.

As expected, Rise Against's was the standout track here.

This soundtrack just brings me bad memories of the Jawbreaker tribute.

I'm not exactly sure where Fall Out Boy got their breakdown and Woah-oh-oh's from... because neither were in the original "Save Your Generation."

Maybe the people at Neversoft are just playing a huge joke on all the shitty bands, maybe.
