Der Tattoo Thread.
Rizzo:
As far as I know you've got two sorts of tattoos, stock and custom. Stock/Flash, you bring in a piece or pick it off the wall and the tattooist copies it onto your skin. Bread and butter as mentioned.
Then you've got custom. Custom is going to be more expensive and while the artist is going to try and copy whatever ideas/images you've come in with, there's going to be a certain aspect of their style or ideas to it.
That said, you probably knew that already.
I'm interested to know though, how many of the people in this thread have stock tattoos? I can't understand that myself. The way I see it is that a tattoo is a permanent icon on your body. Given that it should last your entire lifetime why would you go for an image off the wall which I would assume has no personal meaning to you? I know not all tattoos have to be deep and meaningful but surely they should at least be something you've put some soul into?
Yeah? Nah?

I'm not certain that's a word, but I'm using it from now on because it makes me giggle.
Yes, I'm an immature child. I am okay with this.
hehe, obseni-titties!

Yeah...I know, I can't spell and I was too lazy to look it up.
At least you got a laugh out of it thuogh. From now on, "obscenities" always needs to be said "obsen-tities"

Riz, by those guidelines wouldn't a self-designed tattoo be considered 'flash'? If you or some artist you know drew up a design for you and you brought it in to the tattoo artist to be inked, it hardly counts as non-personal...
Where is the line drawn on this sort of thing? Is custom only when the tattoo artist has artistic control over large aspects of the design, or any piece which has been drawn up just for you?
Liz:
A girl in my dorm just got a tattoo on her lower back that says "Live free, love hard." This seems to me like a poor choice for something to have stuck on your forever.
