If you have a local shop, I can't imagine them not selling you some for $1 or something, assuming they charge for them at all. The only way I'd ever get them online is through BodyArtForms  and that's because they just love giving you free shit with your orders.

Yeah, I'm tempted to just order something from there so I can get some for free. And most of the places I've been to for whatever reason only have the black ones. Yes, they are super cheap, but they make my ears weepy so I can't use them.

Yeah, my ears aren't real fond of the black nitrile rings either. It's either clear silicone or double flare for me.

I typically wear double flare, but the only reason I dropped a size was because I took my olive plugs out and for the life of me could not get them back in (darn pointy flares instead of rounded ones!) and the only other 4g plugs I had were single flare glass ones. I lost the clear rings a while ago, so I was using the black, weepyness ensued and I've been wearing 6ish-g (more like 5g I think) blue tigers eye plugs. Which are pretty, but I'm bored.

Maybe I should just order more stone plugs. This thread is such an enabler without even trying to be...

And oh hey, some of the Diablo Organics are 30% off, woot! Gonna get another pair of amazonite plugs. I liked my 10g ones, now I can have a matching pair if I ever get my ears pierced again (which I'd like to do when I work more than 12hrs a week...).

I wish I could wear wood plugs. No matter how much I oil the plugs and my lobes, they dry out and make my whole ear ache. I can do buffalo horn though and that reminds me I need some in 1"... yep my spending money is definitely all this forum's fault.

I've just resigned to clear silicone eyelets out of laziness of not wanting to put my metal or wood ones in and out for sleeping. Also it sometimes freaks people out when they see perfectly round holes in my ears.

Still wanna get some earskins up in this.

Also getting a tattoo in 9 days.

I love my clear earskins. The only issue I have with them is that they fold too easily... if I'm laying down or wearing headphones or any number of other things, they are likely to just pop out of my ears.

I want a new piercing while I'm waiting to hear about getting my tongue split. Anyone ever had a bridge piercing? I'm wondering if it's possible to get something mostly invisible for my first piece of jewelry, so I can wear it at work.

Never got around to getting mine, but it's really unlikely they'l be able to do anything to make it less visible. Quartz retainers aren't really used anymore, and they're gonna be sticking in a pretty long barbell for the initial piercing. It's also going to be right between your eyes, so even if it was something like the flesh colored lobe jewelry, there's not going to be any way someone looking at you isn't going to notice it.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Sucks, though. It's one of only two piercings I want on my face at this point, and the other is a labret which I've already had and removed. It kind of fucked up my gums. I might get it again though, I really miss it.

'Never forget': With tattoos, new generation proudly bears elders' Auschwitz scars

I actually find this to be  rather fitting and wonderful sentiment, though I can understand the idea that many folks would be made very uncomfortable by it.

People should be made uncomfortable by it.  I think it's the point.

It's also a beautiful and moving gesture.

If done with permission I guess it's okay. It creeps me out a little, but okay.

Without permission, like David Blaine getting Primo Levi's number on his arm ... feels wrong somehow.

I think if it's passed down among family members or friends, it's a beautiful sentiment. But when random people just take someone's number, it seems downright disrespectful, especially if they know nothing about what that person went through.

I find it very interesting that people are taking ownership of a number which was intended to remove their individual personhood. I think it's an interesting way to remember, especially as the article points out we are moving into a point where it is entirely history - soon there will be no living survivors.

I've never gotten a tattoo and I figured I never would but now I'm considering getting an Egyptian eye on my shoulder. There's a giant Egyptian face painted on a wall outside the window of my therapist's office and all you can see through the window is the eye, and looking at it always calms me down so I thought it'd be nice to have it always with me. I'm really nervous about getting a tattoo though because it's permanent and I'm afraid I'd get sick of it. What to do what to do...I sketched it out on my shoulder and it looks cool but still I don't know. There's no real point to this post I just felt like sharing my dilemma.

From what I've gathered, scarification hurts less than getting a tattoo (which, in turn, is less painful than a piercing (depending on the piercing's placement - my lip was maybe a 7, and my ear cartilage was around a 9). I've no personal experience with it yet, though, but I guess I'm getting used to getting stabbed in various places, so the pain probably won't be so bad.

Ehhhhh, it's all ridiculously relative to the individual and placement of work. Comparing them is kind of pointless for the most part really. I've found my piercings, dermal punch and suspension included, not really painful at all, whereas my Geek Life Tattoo ranged from easy peasy to ridiculously painful depending on where he was working at the time.

Edit: And another beautiful example, though not fully healed.

I guess it's just the exposed raw flesh that's getting to me.

I was going to ask why that person's skin looked so bluish, until I followed the link and saw that the scarification was being done over "blackwork".

Also, totally unrelated to the previous, an photo interview with Miss Crash, a side show performer who does suspensions, cheek skewering and the like. NSFW.

Not the greatest interview I've ever read, but it's certainly not bad.

Took me a minute to realize how that skin ring worked.  Clever idea, but It's kind of a weird look - makes me think of grommets that haven't been punched through completely.  It would be neat to have other decorative things that screw on...
