I want one. A Christina piercing, not a JC, although he is entertaining. Only issue is I'm mostly natural down there so that may be an issue.

I can't imagine it causing you any more problems than beard would cause a guy for lip piercings. You might have some minor issues with hair getting stuck due to dried blood initially, but I think it should be fine for the most part.

Edit: Now in the correct thread!

Fuck yeahhhhhhh, finally replaced my single flare plug in my Septum.

2g (6.4mm) CBR, 5/8" inner diameter. It no longer has the ball in there because it took a hell of a lot of work to get it out in the first place and I'd rather not have to try and remove it while it's in my face.

Also it's hard to take a picture of your own face and not look like a creep.

I'm slowly convincing myself, even though I'm not really a major piercing person. I have ear cartilage piercings and want more of them but that's about the height.

I think removing hair around a christina would be much harder than letting it grow free or just trimming it.

It is definitely a cute piercing. I'd assume that trimming it short with an electric razor would be best, and best done by someone else. If you're single then... I have no idea.

That Iron Maiden tattoo is.. something special. It's not horrible, but I'd assume it's an early bit of work from him and why the hell would that be part of his portfolio.

He posts every piece to his Facebook page just after he does it, I think, regardless of quality, which is a person-type account instead of a business-type account. I'm only friends with the page because he hides photos from non-friends. That probably tells you everything you need to know.

Also I just noticed the loose designs on the wall in the background. That seems very off-putting.

Edit: Boyfriend let me look from his account because he's not friends. Seem he doesn't hide the photos any more. Guess you could give the benefit of the doubt it was an honest mistake or maybe allows friends-of-friends.

I've got a question.

I've recently got some pretty awesome headphones, but they're a little tight. After a few hours of wearing them my cartilage piercing gets pretty sore, and today I had to clean some crusties out of it (which I haven't done in forever; this piercing's about a year and a half old). Should I be concerned about this?

Zing, it's just the piercing's response to the irritation.  I've had the same hoop earring for... damn, 36 years now, and it occasionally gets irritated, especially when the baby (my wife's god-daughter's kid) grabs hold of it, or I pull off a sweater or something.

Watch for blood, though - that would indicate tearing.  And see if you can pad / loosen the headphones.  Or if they're the kind with heavy padding, and that's what's pressing, maybe cut a little pocket for the earring.

Yeah, what Carl said. The only real difference is being a cartilage piercing, it's a bit more troublesome and prone to problems. I'd say just keep an eye on it and see if the headphones cause any real noticeable issues, and then decide if it's worth the hassle.

I had the exact same issue when I got new headphones although my piercings were only a few months old, so there was a bit of blood. Someone here linked me these tips for making headphones more comfortable.

I'd also suggest saltwater soaks when any piercings get irritated. It will calm most of the basic reasons for irritation.

So I'd just like to post a more ridiculous set of links this time around. These will be centered around sideshow performer The Great Orbax!

Quote
My belief structure, of course, being that I was a monster. Blame Sesame Street or WDIV channel 50’s thriller double feature, but I would come to school dressed like a vampire, or howl at the moon, or hang upside down from chairs in kindergarten. Suffice to say I was an easy target, but I actually believed that I was a monster until everyone else told me that it was impossible. And that is something that has always bothered me, something I’ve tried to recapture through my circus exploits, and primarily something I’ve tried to achieve through body modification. I don’t know if this makes sense to everyone, but it certainly does to some: I was not a human being until I was made to be one. And because of that, I have always had body issues, always had issues of self-esteem — issues that I was only really able to conquer through body modification and performance.

He does many things for his sideshow, pain play, blockhead, geek, lifting things with his scrotum, all of the normal family fun that you can expect at such events. He used to include a lot of fireplay in his shows, but ended up with 3rd degree burns on 11% of his body after a stage accident a few years ago. He stopped with the fire and decided to make some changes to his show to keep it interesting without relying on the fire.

Here is an interview concerning his show with a portion of it focusing on the accident.

He's done shows with other sideshow performers including but not limited to, The Lizardman, The Enigma, Steve-O and is currently heading up Monsters of Schlock with his brother Sweet Pepper Klopek.

Now, the reason I bring this up, is because I wanted to share this video that Modblog decided to share of Orbax tattooing Sweet Pepper Klopek's leg while they are riding a very shaky wooden rollercoaster.

I love it when sideshow artists do stupid things for my amusement.

I also love this part of that story:

Quote
For the first time in recorded history, a man has been tattooed on a running roller coaster. That man was none other than Sweet Pepper Klopek, one half of the world’s most extreme two man circus sideshow comedy magic extravaganza known as the Monsters of Schlock. His brother, and other half of the daredevil duo, the great Orbax, performed the tattoo. As a matter of fact it was the first time he had EVER tattooed!

The wild stunt took place at the PNE Playland fairgrounds in Vancouver BC Canada on Oct 24th 2012 on the wooden roller coaster. Two successive trips around were required, totalling in just under four minutes of track time covering a total distance of 1732 m. At points the coaster hit 47 mph, took a drop of 75 ft and pulled 2.2 g’s.

The tattoo itself was a lizard face, the logo of their long time sideshow friend and coworker, Erik Sprague, the world famous Lizardman. As the coaster hit the first incline, the five time Guinness World Record breakers proclaimed ‘One small tattoo for man, one giant leap for douchebags everywhere!’.

The Monsters of Schlock have performed skilled, daring and dangerous all over the world but this, by far, they claim to be their stupidest.

Also, a couple of things I just realized I may never have linked.

BME used to do interviews on a fairly regular basis with members of the body modification community, both professionals and people who had work done. A while back Shannon made a collection of all 14 years worth of interviews and put them together in a free to download PDF and also sells a physical copy of the book called "Opening Up". That can be found here. The book does include some NSFW images, but most of it is perfectly fine in that regard.

He also managed to put up a free PDF download of a book that was published in 2002 called ModCon, which can be found here. They both have some NSFW material in them, but ModCon is a very intense book as it focuses on some rather heavy surgical modifications. This includes photos of procedures such as scarifications, castrations, penectomy, meatotomy, implants and many other things. So be warned, if you aren't interested in these things and don't have a strong stomach for it, it might be a bit much. If Shannon can find a on-demand printer willing to do it, he's wanting to get more copies printed and sell them which I'd be ecstatic about.

Both of these are really wonderful collections for documenting the evolution of the industry and the philosophy that drives it. The rather rapid increase in knowledgable and effective after care, the increase in piercers actual medical knowledge, the rather clear periods where the industry started getting noticed by people who didn't understand it and the eventual mainstream acceptance (for the most part) of at least the most basic aspects of it. They're both incredibly fascinating if you are interested at all.

I'm not entirely sure how the plug mittens work. I get that they're to keep your ears warm. I mean how are they actually worn. At first I thought they were attached to an actual earring or plug but I saw a photo that's meant to help explain but I'm still confused.

I usually just wear big over ear headphones when it is cold and I'm outside. But my lobes are only at an inch, and are rather fat, so I'm not overly concerned about them getting too cold.
