So, everything has been less than great lately, and even though I shouldn't spend the money, I am fucking going to schedule my appointment to get my squid.

Hey guys here is a not fantastic picture of my fantastic new tattoo!  (My brother's camera is not as good as mine and I don't have my cable here to connect to his computer) but I really badly want to show it off!

I am mega thrilled with it.

Jodie that is hella awesome!

So, today I went to Evermore, which is my tattoo parlor. I went in to schedule an appointment for my squid tattoo. While there, I started talking to my piercer, and decided to get something pierced. I decided I'd get a surface piercing on my chest. Or two of them.

This was around 4pm. I got home at around 6pm. I was covered in bloodly fingerprints. My chest was bloody. I had to streams of blood dripping out of my chest.

When I went in the back room to get pierced, I honestly didn't think it'd take very long. I didn't think it'd hurt. I was pretty sure I'd be out of there before the sun set.

I laid down, and I talked to my piercer for a bit before he went to work. The first technique my piercer used, wasn't going to work, we decided that instead we'd do two dermal implants. We'd start with the bottom one, and then move up to the top one.

Well, he had some problems. Apparently my skin is hella thick and he couldn't get the implant in my skin. So after many many tries, and many many many minutes, he called the other piercer in. At this point, I was starting to get dizzy. It felt like the chair I was on was tipping over. When I stopped focusing on that I started feeling like the room was spinning. When the other piercer started working on me, and I realized my piercer was on the other side of me, the room stopped spinning, and I started to feel a bit better. After much struggling, they finally got it in. But it was intense. When I sat up, I felt incredibly light. Very dizzy. My piercer let me stay in the chair for a bit and offered me gummy bears. After a drink of water, and a bit of rest I started to feel better.

But oh my god. It was awesome. I loved every bit of it. It was so awesome. And so incredibly intense. I'm pretty sure at one point, my piercer, the other piercer, the owner, and one of the tattoo artists were back there. It was crazy. It was so awesome. I loved it.

Like I said, we only got one in. I'm going back to get the top one next week.

God, guys, I absolutely love my implant! It makes me feel hella awesome and totally hot. I told my friend that I want to be a fetish model now.

I'm supposed to just get one more, but I'm kinda considering getting three more.

How long is the healing period for one of those? And around how expensive do they run? I think that they are pretty rad looking in general. =)

Man, there was so much going on, I don't even think I asked what the healing time would be. I'm gonna guess it'll be at least awhile.

And it only cost me $50, but I'm pretty sure he originally told me $75. But I think because they love me at that shop, and because it was crazy, he gave me a discount.

Assuming you can find an artist that works well with it, white ink can make quite the striking piece of ink, esepcially on dark skin.

Akblom, I'd always heard that it actually showed up worse the darker the skin color, because it needs to show through from below a few layers of skin. You're a lot more into this stuff than I am though, maybe there are newer better inks which show up nicer?

No, you're definitely right. I'm not actually not sure why the hell that even made sense to me at the time. For some reason I was 100% certain I had seen some great photos of a Nigerian guy with some fantastic white work. >_<

Oh yeah, also, Dark colors really are your best bet. Reds, purples, blues, and blacks are your best bets for good colors that will show well, but considering how dark your shade is it's unlikely to be terribly noticeable from a distance no matter what unless you get a fairly large piece. I mean, you're best bet is honestly to check out some artist, look at some portfolios and go get a consultation with someone you like. They will definitely be able to give you a definite on whether or not they can help you out with what you're trying to accompolish.

If you don't mind sharing, what ya thinking of geting?

Guys, is the lower rib cage/side an ok place to get a first tattoo, y/n? I have an idea for my back already, but I want to get an owl and I don't want it on my arms or legs but also in a place that is easy to cover up.

I haven't come up with a set design yet, but I'm thinking it'll be about 4 in high and will be line work only.

Linds, the side is probably not the best place for your first tattoo. That's where my favorite tattoo is, but it was also the most painful by a lot. It also took 3 hours (fairly elaborate, I posted a picture of it a few pages back) and it was from a guy that the other tattoo artists later told me gave the most painful tattoos. But still, you might want to get your back tattoo first.

Well, the design I have would take up most of my back, so I could get parts of that done, but I'd rather get the owl first. Also because part of it will run along my spine from neck to the small of my back, so I'd rather know what I'm getting into with tattoos on bones before I do that. (It's one of these, but I'd be adding strings and a bridge.)

Current designs in progress:

http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/6903/20090306184130.jpg

Thinking of adding colour, but probably not. I do like the idea of a rusty orange texture for the top and a worn/grungey red for the inside black of the middle with a dark green behind it (plants and vines) though.

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/5594/20090306182435.jpg

Need to work out some patterns to put in the middle sides. Probably no colour.

Oh, that's the first known recording of the abstract concept of freedom, 'ama-gi'. It literally means "return to the mother" which I find a pretty awesome phrase for many reasons, and it's also used as an anarchist symbol. It's in Sumerian cuneiform and the rest of it's based around ancient mythology and artwork from that area and era (cradle of civilisation stuff fascinates me to no end).

And yes, I know it's sideways.

Arrrgh. I need to find a 3mm piece of jewellery with a long enough wearable area to fit in my conch. I also need it tomorrow because I've lost the one i had in and I'm keeping it open with a 2.4mm bullet. I tried steel tunnels but it wasn't long enough to fit and wear the o-rings on it, which is why it fell out. I can't find annnnnything else that is even close to being appropriate.

On the upside, i'm buying some new septum jewellery so that makes me happy.
