Guys, my tattoo artist fell and hurt his hip. Baking him cookies would be...?

A)Rad!
B)Strange
C)Awesome!

Agreed! Cookies are always rad and awesome, no matter the situation. You could even make them more rad and awesome by baking special cookies.

Guys, how do you feel about pre-tattoo care?  One of my friends told me that I should put lotion on the area i plan to get my next tattoo for a few weeks before getting it because it'll keep the skin healthy and cause the tattoo to heal faster (or something).  Does this make any sense?

I think that it wouldn't hurt anything.

Unless you have horribly dry skin or something tough, i don't see it making a particuarly big difference.

The cookies are baked. And they have purple and orange frosting. And the frosting says things like "feel better!" and "sorry that you got hurt" and such. One of my good friends says that it is weird, he'll think I'm strange if I give him cookies.

I'm getting ready to go now. I'll let you know how it goes.

Also, I'm probably going to get my second microdermal.

Also, tell us how well the cookies went over (because I am sure that anyone in their right mind would love cookies).

@ Lilliz

Fanks!

I always take my tattoist cookies and or cup cakes, but I do the same for my hairdresser, I think it's a lovely sweet thing to do. Being nice to somone who is putting things on you forEVER is a good idea!

Two people have my name tattooed on them. One is covered up & one is quite big. One regrets it (Duh!) One doesn't. Getting friends names is funny, boyfriends/girlfriends not so cool, unless you like regretting tattoos (I do which is why I've only put two photos up, some of mine are awful!)

Odd my history teachers keep changing the spelling of "Jhenghiz" so you may end up with a lot of crossed out conquerers on your back... or wherever you are getting the tattoo.

I'm thinking of getting a Sandman tattoo (Gaiman's comic, not the Spiderman character) at some point in the future. I don't want to get the actual character but I was thinking of getting the key to Hell from Seasons of Mist, which while a GIS found me many mislabelled tattoos that were actually Despair's sigil, basically looks like this:

I would probably get this on my right bicep.

So, I found out today from a girl at my job that she went this past friday to get a tattoo because (supposedly many) shops will do work on Friday the 13th for free if the tat is '13' related.  I'm hella jealous because I would have come up with something just for a free tat.

Brett I make no bones about the fact that most of my tattoos seem horrendously dumb to the vast, vast, vast majority of people and even dumber if I attempt to explain them.

(It is one of William Blake's illustrations to The Divine Comedy)

(Vast.)

That looks pretty sweet. Is it not rather a lot of detail though?

Oh yeah I guess I should've said that it is not that exactly. I have simplified it a fair bit and taken all of the colour out so it is just linework+a little bit of shadowing. As it stands it should be about a three hour job.

Hey Tattoo thread, I am still deliberating about tattoos that I want in the future, because I'm waiting. Do you think: http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj156/Sneakers_King/peacockhip.jpg is a good idea, maybe a bit higher and not so sloppy, and how much would something that large run me? Woudl it look better upside down, or with one on each hip? Or maybe a different placement?

Honestly, asking for price ranges really is an act of futility. It differs a ridiculous amount depending on the artist, shop and how much they like you.

As far as the tattoo itself goes I think it's preferable going up the leg. To me it fits the curve of the hip and thigh better and just geenrally looks better in my opinion. I think the placement you have it at works, but I could see it working a little higher up.

I've considered a piercing but it seems like tattoos can never work out. There are the two extremes; if you do something simple, it's not worth showing off, if you put a lot of time into a piece it just looks dirty or unnecessary. So far the only thing that looked cool was the white ink tattoo and that still seems like you're pushing it. Maybe I'm just not into them...

Sounds like it. Part of the problem might be the mindset you have with tattoos though. While it's a lot of fun to show off tattoos, showing them off is not really the point of a lot of people's work.

Wow. Just wow.

First of all, I can't think of a single tattoo artist that would tattoo someone while they were drunk. It's illegal in most states, and most artists have way more respect than that anyway.

Second of all, wow, really? Is that how you see things? Tattoos are just basically a life long hangover? Wow. I mean, gosh, people getting tattoos to remember things are sooo dumb. Why would anyone get a tattoo to remember someone near to them that died? God that's so stupid.

Wow man. Seriously. You just blow me the fuck away.

(Ok, admittedly, I am grouchy right now. I just got off work. I had to deal with stupid customers all day. It's cold out, and my buis is 17 mintues late. Fuck)

I don't really like memorial tattoos all that much but keep in mind that my experience of them stretches about as far as watching episodes of Miami Ink and LA Ink where it's all "Oh yeah my Great Aunt Bertha died recently and we were really close and stuff so I want to get her big ugly face tattooed on my bicep with the word "Aunt" underneath. You know, just to really hammer home the concept." I'm all for getting a tattoo to symbolise something important or to remind you of someone who was a central figure of your life but man do I hate portraiture.

Yeah, I want to get a tattoo on my back because that is where my long (albeit very hard to see) scar is from my operation which has now changed how I do everything. I am not going to get something that is "Oh man, you should see what's in my back" tattooed on there, but I like the idea of tattooing something on my back seeing it's important. It's been something I have been thinking about for years now, not just a drunken idea late one night which I got the next day. I am not sure how many tattoos are actually done like that. I might think that people with Southern Cross tattoos are idiots, but they probably have some weird patriotic feelings for this place and got what they figure will represent that. Still makes me look at them as clichéd bogans, but having something put on your skin permanently seems like the kind of thing you consider for a bit before getting.

Plus it's going to look awesome and will be easy to cover up if I need to but also easy to show off. Best off both worlds, and oh man I want a tattoo already blblblbl. I have been looking at www.yourmeatismine.com lately and changing from the zipper idea to something more like the back tattoos on there. stupid pretty bold-lined tattoos.

My little yellow bird behind my ear is for my little sister Jane. Around the time I got it, she was in the hospital with a blood disorder, and they had her in the oncolodgy department. Needless to say, it sacred the life out of me. So I got my yellow bird to remind me of her. She loves ducks and chicks, and all sorts of little birds, so getting that tattoo'd on me just seemed natural.

No? Too bad, I'm giving it anyways

1) Don't come into a thread where people are sharing things that are important to them (extends past tattoo thread)

2)If you take everything too seriously on this forum you will never last.
