I know, they should start playing less hits! it would be nice to hear something like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds once in a while. =/

Tiny Dancer, yes. Most everything else, either meh or aargh.

Tiny Dancer is made even better if you replace the words with "Tony Danza". Comedy!

I use songs from the Lion King soundtrack to publicly embarrass my friends. It's not my fault they fall perfectly into my shouting range.

Elton John is one of those people from the 70s who I'm sure had great album-oriented output, but all I ever hear are the singles and it totally kills it because I hear them all the time. I also used to listen to his Greatest Hits album when I was aged 3-7,

That's almost EXACTLY what the Gay kid I graduated with said.
He's the most stereotypical person ever, and he called Elton John a "Talentless Fag"

Tiny Dancer is always a gooder. The Way You Look Tonight is pretty good too. And I agree, Candle In The Wind is way too overplayed, much as I used to love it.

Did Elton John actually write a song called "The Way You Look Tonight"?  Or did he just record a version of the famous Jerome Kern/Dorothy Fields song of that name?  'Cause yes, that's one of the loveliest songs ever written, but you should know that it was first recorded by Fred Astaire in the 1930s.

I did not know that it wasn't an original Elton John song. I will now go and lick my wounds at the betrayal of this.

Elton John is brilliant. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is an amazing album.

I love Bennie And The Jets and Bitch Is Back. He was one of the best parts of Live 8 until Pete Doherty fucked it up..

Me.

Some may be kinda catchy. But then there are the rest.

And then there's the fact that they have employed Phil Collins, which is unforgivable.

What the fuck is wrong with this thread?

Have none of you heard "Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding"? Have none of you heard his version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"? "All The Girls Love Alice"? "Grey Seal"? "Take Me To The Pilot"? "Madman Across The Water"??

Seriously, the man is pretty fucking rad. Well, he was anyways. Now he is short and fat and kind of bitter and a flaming homosexual in the worst possible ways.

Hell, I like his cover of 'Pinball Wizard' better than the original. Which is saying something.

While I dont agree that his version of "Pinball Wizard" is better then the orriginal, i have to admit, his music is really growing on me. He is a great musician and a brilliant showman.
I do think i will stab myself if i hear "Candle in the Wind" again.

I think the end of _Breaking the Waves_ where the music comes in for chapter 12 (or whatever it is) and you're like... wait... IS THIS?? YES!? YES IT IS!? IT'S GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD!! is just one of the most wonderful moments of anything ever.
