The Sugarcubes - Motorcrash

I am supposed to do a half-hour presentation about icelandic music in my danish class tomorrow. I will play this and more:

Björk - Jogá
Sigur Rós - Svefn-G-Englar
Múm - Green Grass of Tunnel
Mugison - What I would Say In Your Funeral

maybe Brudarbandid - Sid.

I couldn't find Gus Gus - Ladyshave on any torrents, if I could I would definitely play it as well.

Nevermore - The Sound of Silence

Nevermore wins the award for cover that sounds least like the original song, ever. And before any of you bust out Ben Folds's oh-so-hilarious gangsta rap covers, compare:

Cryptic Wintermoon - A Coming Storm

"The sky turned black, and the sea turned red.
Almost the way the bible said.
There won't be a god to save you now,
When darkness arrives.

None of your prayers can stop the darkness to come,
They have opened the gate to the world of the awesome.
They have passed the point of no returen.

Oooh, Dntel's contribution to the Dublab Freeways compilation!  That comp was in my heavy rotation in college.  Languis & Fer Chloca, Daedelus, John Tejada, Mia Doi Todd's only good recorded output... lots of good stuff.

Currently listening to my own dance mix.  Includes fun cuts like Justus Kohncke's "Timecode", Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You", a mix of Ratatat's "17 Years" that I did with a dance beat behind it, and a cut of Underworld's "Born Slippy" that puts the main synth line and the jungle beats together.  Ahh, the simple pleasures of Audacity.

Uno, dos, tres, CO!
Uno, dos, tres, LA!
Uno, dos, tres, TE!

Kraftwerk - "Heimatklänge", from their third album, Ralf und Florian.

Early Kraftwerk sounds very different to the Kraftwerk that became famous around the world: more laid back, much less electronic instrumentation, flutes, pianos, etc, and it's mostly instrumental. I can see a lot of parallels with Neu!.

The band, in their usual eccentric style, try to pretend this body of work doesn't exist: they refuse to release it on CD, and haven't performed any of it live since about 1974.
