Hello,

I am new to the QC community.  Just discovered it last week and just finished reading through the archive today.  It was great. So hello... Nice to meet you all.

I just wanted to share one of my favorite indie bands, 'We versus the Shark'.  They came out with their first album back in 2004, 'Ruin Everything.'

This band is great.  To me, it is kind of like 'Q and not U' and 'Fugazi' having a carnivorous battle to the death, in the form of some great mathematical beats and some slightly poppy, melodious bridges.

It starts off real upbeat with some neat rhythms in the opening song, and then slips into some real dark, dissonant harmonization.  Each song tends to be real progressive, changing the mood several times, using different time signatures, keys, and styles of singing.

Everyone who loves music should at least check these guys out.  They have some sample songs at http://www.purevolume.com/weversustheshark/ .  'This Graceless Planet' is on there, and that song kicks ass.

You can purchase their album from http://www.hellosirrecords.com/store.htm

Anyways, does anyone else dig 'We vs. the Shark' as much as me?  Please share your opinions!

Why do I get the impression that you are the Luke mentioned in the band members and that your "favorite indie band" is your own?

God, I wish I was as talented as those fellows.  Sadly my guitar playing and song writing skills don't even compare.  Hopefully one day I will be a comparable force of musical prowess

We Versus the Shark is AWESOME, and I'm not even really a fan of indie/math rock.  Too bad I wasn't able to catch them on their tour with Bomb the Music Industry...  Have you heard BTMI's cover of This Graceless Planet?  It's even better than the original.
