nobody I know of. I had a band in high school and was very much involved in the local scene, but there weren't any bands I 'took with me', as it were. Dredg is from the next town over, but even them I haven't listened to in several years.

although I'm moving to Davis, CA next year, and DJ Shadow comes from there. :]

here in Tilburg (Netherlands) we have:
One in a million (http://www.oneinamillion.nl/ or http://www.myspace.com/oneinamillion) -- beatlesque music. On their cd they even covered eleanor rigby though when i saw them live they were playing a regular album track(in a bit of a powered up version) and ended with the riff of enter sandman which sounded very fluent.

2nd place driver (http://www.2ndplacedriver.com/) -- elektro, kinda nice, not really my thing though

Green Lizard (http://www.green-lizard.com/ and http://www.myspace.com/greenlizard) -- grunge. their 2002 (?) single mouthful (not on myspace) is really great, one of the best Dutch tracks ever in my opinion

And that's about it when it comes to interesting local bands here (well, we have this band called Krezip who are complete shit but managed to have a huge success in holland and I believe Belgium and Germany as well)

But I believe I'm the only Dutchie here so I guess i can just as well post all interesting unknown Dutch or Belgian acts huh?

theenginedriver:
from around here is the cheshire smile. you can check them out at http://www.purevolume.com/thecheshiresmile/music

they are kind of experimental/post-rock, i suppose.

and they are nice people.
