anyone else played this?  i've got a wordy review-type-thing up on my elljay http://www.livejournal.com/users/est_xplosif/51499.html">here, but a sufficient summation is: i like it!

old west 3rd-person shooter that feels kinda like the original GTA3.  you have a main mission, but you also have side-missions that you can busy yourself with.  "bullet time"-style slo-mo is in the game via a "quickdraw" timer.  you hit your quickdraw button and everything slows down, allowing you to hit multiple targets quickly.  you only have a limited amount of quickdraw time though, so you have to use it sparingly.

i'm only about halfway through the main missions, but from what i've played so far i can recommend it.

Xbox for sure... but if I'm not mistaken, I think it's multi-platform.

Could be wrong.

Multi-platform.

It's Xbox at the moment, and I think it's lined up for PS2. It's also in the launch window for Xbox 360. It DOES look like a lot of fun.

It's defintietly out on the PS2. It looks pretty awesome. Is it as good as the most recent GTAs?

A friend of mine just got GTA for the PSP. He says it's cack.

Gamespot just gave it a pretty unflattering review. Its average on gamerankings.com is significantly better, but I'm not sure if I'd buy it without at least a rental.

well i guess i finished GUN in three nights and the final sequence left a bad taste in my mouth.  people yelling at you to get back onto something when it is much better to get off.  long, easy, repetitive and boring final stretch up to a boss whose difficulty level was so completely out of phase with the rest of the game that at first i doubted whether the way i thought of to kill him was correct or not, causing me to try various other things before reverting back and persisting and killing him.

a very disappointing finish!

the playable area is also rather small.  while playing i kept thinking that another area would open up at some later stage, but it just didn't.

So is Gun more worth a rental?  I played the new Hulk game and it was loads of fun.
