Tim Burton has got to be one of the most overrated directors out there. I hate him. He's made, like, 3 good movies.
Oh, and Corpse Bride sucked. The good version was released years ago. It was called "Nightmare Before Christmas". :P

I don't think he's one of the most overrated directors, he certainly has a unique style, but most of the people I've met who adore him are not actual movie buffs.
They like him because they think that they're liking something truly unique, and it makes them feel special... kind of like indie kids.
They don't realize that he's just about as commercial as any director can get.
Maybe that's harsh, but I've just never met a Tim Burton fan who's tastes in film I could take seriously.
And I've never met a Tim Burton fan who was - frankly - all that bright.
(having the OP misspell 'Genius' didn't help with that continued perspective of mine, by the way).

I quite like Tim Burton's style, but I wouldn't go so far as to call him a genius.
I enjoy his films as they are slightly quirky and the cinematrography and sets reflect that. Personally though I believe there are MUCH better directors out there, I prefer Neil Marshall, Robert Rodriguez and a wee bit of Dario Argento. But those reflect my own personal tastes in Film. :)
