We had a similar topic with male vocalists, and a 'greatest guitarist ever' topic, but never one to just list guys with guitars that you think are awesome. Mine:

John Petrucci (Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, solo)

Michael Romeo (Symphony X)

Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath, solo)

David Gilmour (Pink Floyd, solo)

Frank Zappa (solo, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention)

Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson)

Dave Murray (Iron Maiden)

Jimi Hendrix

Jimmy Page (The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin)

Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Ritchie Blackmore's Night)

Alex Lifeson (Rush)

Stevie Ray Vaughn

Joe Satriani

Steve Vai (Frank Zappa, Alcatrazz, solo)

That is what this topic is for. So you can add him.

And to be honest, I never understood why people thought Morello was that great.

Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom, Sinergy). Still great no matter what direction CoB have taken.

Henrik Flyman (Wuthering Heights, Evil Masquerade)

Michael Amott (Arch Enemy, Spiritual Beggars, Carcass, Dismember (early), Candlemass (session))

Steve Ramsey (Skyclad, Pariah, Satan) Yes, that really is the best picture on the web.

Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One, Ambeon, Nightingale, etc.)

WHAT?! All this way into a badass guitarists thread and there's been no mention of Brian May? Y'all oughtta be ashamed.

http://www.pemcom.demon.co.uk/queen/guild/bhmspe.gif">

And John Lennon? Come on, people.

http://www.stthomasu.ca/~pmccorm/research/lennonpensive.jpg">

And lastly, the guy on the right, Peppino D'Augustino. I saw him in concert, a small little shindig thrown together by my friend Mike who owns the guitar shop Fretted Friends in Livermore, CA. Peppino D'Augustino was there, and he's a TOTAL BADASS.

Is there such a thing as negative ejaculation?

Furthermore, while I totally respect Yngwie's talent, I cannot listen to him all the time. His blatant disregard for song structure is something I can only indulge myself in occasionally.

I saw The Hold Steady play with Thunderbirds Are Now! and The Constantines a few weeks ago. Everyone in The Hold Steady and TAN! are so short, then the Constantines come onstage and they are a bunch of lanky fuckers (except for Dallas)... It was funny.

I thought the Hold Steady were pretty annoying, Craig Finn was spitting all over the audience and dancing around like he has Parkinson's disease (not trying to be an insensitive prick, but it's true). In addition to this, their keys were turned up so overbearingly loud that it made them sound all muddled. I suppose that's not so bad because I didn't have to hear Craig Finn's voice. ;)

Eric Clapton goes without saying. Quoth a London wall, "Clapton is God." Well, hell, I've just switched from an atheist to a priest.

And yeah, still on the subject of Bo Diddley, he even let me play his Gretsch box. It was AWESOME. Like, imagine playing Clapton's "Blackie" or Jimmy Page's "Number 1". THAT IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE.
