Heh, I wrote and recorded a song the other day, and it has a key change at the end which features a massive guitar harmony, and I thought to myself, "Duane Allman would be proud."

So yeah I second him.

Kinda late, but thank God someone mentioned Television. They were one of the best guitar bands in rock.

I third Duane Allman. Can't believe I forgot the guy.

Jeff Beck.

Also, I really don't know why Television gets so much praise; They're really not all that great, interesting, or guitar wise, "something to write home about".

I cannot believe I forgot this woman:

Wata from Boris. Oh my god she's good. I didn't even notice the rest of the band when I saw them play.

Oh, and I very much second that Oxes recommendation.

Yeah, I think we had George up there, but yeah. George totally trumps over Lennon.

Oh, I'm no saying he wasn't there, I'm just saying he wins.

But now that I'm looking back in the thread I don't see him. I see the one I posted of Lennon though. :\

to the guy that posted Craig Finn, I love him one of my favorite front men ever, but really he doesn't do anything on guitar other than swing it around and hit it a little. The other guitar player in the band (Tad Kubler) is the really great one, and he is really great.

If we're re-stating love for previously mentioned guitarists, I feel honour bound to give you this picture of Ritchie Blackmore  demonstrating probably the greatest contrast of really gimpy costume versus really sick chops in history:

Seriously, you need to have written Smoke on the Water to get away with that.

Also, I want to expand this thread. Favourite stringed instrumentalists! Where else will I get to show my love of Georgina Biddle, Fiddler extraodinaire and the Skyclad member with the most amusing hair:

Edit:

And also, because I was keeping to pictures of guitarists with guitars before:

DAN MOTHERFUCKING SWANO (Altar, Another Life, Bloodbath*, Brejn Dedd, Canopy, Diabolical Masquerade, Edge of Sanity, Godsend, Incision, Infestdead, Karaboudjan, Katatonia*, Maceration, Masticate, Moontower, Nightingale, Odyssey, Overflash, Pan.Thy.Monium, Ribspreader, Route Nine, Star One**, Steel, Total Terror, Unicorn, Mahlstrom, Sorskogen)

*/** One starred he only did drums for, two starred he only sang for, but damn they make the list look cooler. This man can slay on pretty much any instrument.
