I think all the server has to do is to go into the console and type in deathmatch 1 .

--- Quote from: Nolaw_Nocrime ---The other day I was in the lovely city of Glasgow (me and my friends we're wandering round the shops playing on the pre-sale Xbox 360's :-)) and we went into this LAN center which had like 30-40 PC's all linked up. Basically you go in, pay for however long you want to play and play against people in there or you play peeps on the internet. We got a free hour for signing up :-) IT WAS AWESOME! That was the first time I really played CSS and I loved it.
So I'm thinking about getting CSS for my home computer, but before I do I want to know what SPEC people who play it would reccomend! 'cause the minimum specs are always pretty shitty. So I wanna know what you play with and if it's decent :-)
My computer at the moment (bearing in mind I don't play many games on the PC (i'm an xbox kid)
I have:
AMD Athlon 200+ 1.67 GHZ Proccessor
224 MB Ram
(please remember I'm pretty piss poor when it comes to computer set ups. So if you try to explain something, please bear with me :-))
I think I'm gonna have to upgrade this a bit for optimum playing.
Also I just wanna hear about the general appreciation of CSS

You're really low on memory. Running 224 with that proccessor doesn't seem to do much for you. I suggest you to buy a new PC instead of "upgrading" it. Over the years, I've tuned my "Civic" to run more like a Ferrari and I'm fed up. I'm finally getting one built before Christmas. The store that's building mine just sent me the quotation and everything seems to be pretty bad-ass. I just can't believe I'm paying $120 CDN for a tower. I've always thought those things were almost free!

I figure I might just completely gut the tower and replace it all. My dad does that kinda thing anyways. So it'll be cheaper than a shop building me one eh.
I'll save up and get loads more RAM, a better processor and maybe a new graphics card. Eventually I plan on putting more space on my Hard drive but it's fine for the moment.
Edit: When I say my dad does this I mean as a hobby. (i.e. for friends/family not professionally) He tried to get a job doing it but when he was at school they didn't do IT so he couldn't. So I won't get any parts cheaper...pffft.

I think the first step you should take is getting a new motherboard.
Spike:
I think I would say just build a new computer. It's a larger initial investment yes, but it's just a whole lot easier.
I would get a new mobo, I'd aim for something that has pci-e slots. More and more graphic cards will be produced for pci-e. So you can make the jump now and take a smaller(-ish) hit to your wallet and save yourself the headache later or you can just wait it out, but then you have to make sure all your existing componants work with older parts. (Particularly annoying, I have a geforce 6600 that I can't use due to pci-e).
Whether or not you want to go with a 64 bit processor or just use a 32 bit processor is entirely up to you. Personally I'm going to switch to 64 bit after christmas.
As far as ram goes, I would definetly upgrade. The only thing you have to worry about is whether or not the memory you have will be compatible with a new mobo/processor. I would check and see if it's ddr/ pcXXXX.
Just don't mind me if you already know this.
