I have always liked metal but I sorta stopped listening to it for awhile, only to have my interest reawakened by Questionable Content.  I have really enjoyed most of the metal groups Jeph has recommended (Opeth, Isis, Mastodon), but mostly I have been listening to indie rock (Spoon, Modest Mouse, Pixies etc) and rap /hip-hop (Dr. Dre, Wu-Tang Clan, Outkast, Madvillian etc).  Throw in some Delta Blues, Bollywood soundtracks, and some J-rock, and you have somebody with a strange range of tastes :-)

What is it you like about metal? How up are you with the classics (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Venom, Mercyful Fate etc.)

What do I like about metal?  That is actually a very hard question to answer... I guess always like strong, pulsating music, and heavy metal fits that bill perfectly...As to the classics, I have the basics, and that is all I will lay claim to: Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer etc.
