I can't even get the first one, I feel like an idiot. I'm not quite sure what I even have to do.

I'm pretty sure the first clue has something to do with the actual title for the IE window that opens.  "Some backwards stapler bytes"

I hope I'm not giving a spoiler away, or something.

I'm still trying to discern the first page as well, so don't feel too bad Stifled Dreams... you're not the only one.

Then again, the site is just 'the stapler' backwards, so I could be totally wrong.

I've tried a few things like that, but they haven't turned much up... I think it has something to do with the numbers in the paragraph or something. Bleah, I have a day to kill but I feel like I'm not getting anywhere!

It totally is binary. ADD A NUMBER SOMEWHERE.

This thing is annoying.

Why?

Because the guy basically condescends to everyone in that first page, saying someone with a basic High School education could figure it out... then you suddenly are required to have at least a basic understanding of binary, mersenne primes, decryption algorythms...

It's a little too obscure for me.  It is in no way a test of intelligence, rather a test of how much you can think like this relpats guy.

*goes back to his regular, unrelative logic problems*

This is the point where I throw in the towel.  The first clue is more difficult than the second, which was so simple, and when I translated the binary from the third...

I'm out.

Grah, to slow, I got to 4 and i know it has somthing to do with misspellings. I tried to put together the missing letters, but that didnt work. I'm off to get this to work. if anyone wants to give me a hint. Feel free.

yeah, i fucking hate things like this.  i am normally pretty good at actual logic puzzles, i mean, i've been solving them for fun since 6th grade and can do reasonably well in them most times when i'm in the right mood for it.

as Sideways said though, this test seems to be more about how much you think like the author, or a test of how much other, non-logic related knowledge you have.  the first question wasn't even a logic puzzle.  it was guessing what he could have meant by something.  i saw the "pi" reference, but didn't think to use it until i'd read over the entire passage about 50 times looking for some subtle grammatical nuance indicating what it might be.

it was much the same with that other huge one that was posted here a while back.  half the shit on it didn't even make sense if you were from another country, because parts of it referenced pop culture.  parts of it were also basically just a case of guessing what the person may mean by whatever picture they had put up.

I agree, but the fact that I can't get past the 5th stage because I know nothing about encryption or decryption or whatever is really driving me nuts. Oh well, it isn't worth it. I'm still PMing you with a hint, messeduplilkid, though, because I know how that feels.

Damnit. I'm stuck on 5 too.

I was searching for encryption stuff, and found this site about the puzzle. Hopefully the hints contained within can  help.

Edit: You don't need to know a lot about encryption, this site does it for you. You just have to figure out what code and what words to use.

...Good lord!! I'm completely baffled by page four, but I think I might throw in the towel... from the way things sound I won't even have the required knowledge to finish up the puzzle. Way to make me feel inferior. =P
