Pretty good for an eight year old, but it's pretty much just a speeded up scale exercise. Sounded pretty awful. All the skills in the world are nothing if you havent got some soul.

Khar's right but if i could play like that when i was 8 (and come on, where the hell does the soul come from when you're 8. not your loins i can guarantee that. Maybe your enjoyment of trucks and dinosaurs but i'm not sure) I'd be a god now.

Man, that kid on the bass was badass. I guess I was impressed by the kid on guitar as well, I mean, he's only 8, but I've seen plenty of wanky guitar solos, but I have NEVER seen someone doubletap away on a goddamned Charlie Parker song like that before.

I'm sorry, that kid blatantly can't play for shit.

The guitarist, that is. I didn't watch the other video, I was too disgusted by the first one.

Here's what I'm thinking:

1. That kid doesn't look eight years old to me.

2. Speed is not everything. In fact, speed is hardly anything, especially with guitar playing. If that kid can shred shit up like that, fine, but try and join a band and you don't know how to play a seventh and you're fucked.

3. That sounded like shit. All he was doing was scale exercises really, really, really fast. It's better than another video I saw of an alleged eight-year-old, who couldn't even mute the extraneous noise of his strings; at least this one could. But that wasn't soloing, that was wanking. It sounded like crap, there as no melody, just notes stapled together.

DK, the bass was much more impressive. Reminded me somewhat of the video of Jean Baudin doing the SMB theme, in that both his hands were doing so much stuff.

Id agree with KharBevNor although hes pretty awesome for an 8 year old hes not playing anything THAT amazing. Ive met people who are better guitarists who are 12, that 4 years makes a pretty big difference but still.

The guitar kid sounded kind of cool but only because I just got done listening to the Minibosses and that shit messes with your brain or something. I dunno.

The bass player kid, now. He had some talent. I really liked that.

Also, I agree with Mnementh. That guitar kid will probably never have trouble getting a girlfriend because chicks dig guitars. We like it when you write songs about us, even if you just made them up 2 seconds ago, because it shows that you care.

Uh oh, starting to sound too much like a girl.

Because the stereotype was wrong. I too play the guitar in 2 projects and it's done nothing for me and truth be told, at least in my eyes, girls just want to find justification for being shallow when they're attracted to musclebound meat heads or obnoxious pretty boys, they want to say "Ohhh he has a sensitive side, or he's an awesome musician." just to justify that they're like guys. Into physical appearances.


Or they like musicians when they play the type of music they like.

I guarantee really sludgy/stoner rock has not helped me in any way.

but it is because i'm not shallow that i don't get with every pretty guitarist that comes my way ;)

basically guitars are a bonus, but so are pretty eyes or piercings.  none of those things mean guaranteed action.  (unless you are certain members of a certain band i know.  a bunch of pretty boys who have the typical bimbo groupies that follow them everywhere. hrmf.)

anywho... as to the video.
i didn't like the 8 year old.  he looked... bored or something up there.  not like the 12 year old on the drums.  now that was some pretty awesome stuff!

the bass guy was cool too but...

smoosh.  holy shit that is pretty damn cool!

I hated how the guitarist was totally not having any fun.

The drum kid and the absolutely godly bass kid were happy.

The bass and drum kids just make me want to go learn drums and bass.
