This would be the party to end all parties.
I'd even bring in a dragon for the bands to fight.

Prepare for some of the most eclectic craziness on this side of...oh hell, just pretend you care what I'm talking about, okay?

-Paul Gilbert
-The Crown (Deathrace King era, with Johan Lindstrand on vocals, I've heard their other albums aren't nearly as good, but I'll have to listen to them)
-Dave Holland Quintet

Not in that order.  I'd have to work out an order that wouldn't make everyone's head explode with the randomocity.

For awesome heavy metal and moshpits: Metallica (Pre-Load.)

For some good dancin fun: The Beatles (Their early years, while nott as good as their later stuff, was easier to groove too.)

And for some insane prog rock, starig at pretty lights and comtemplating the meaning of life while stoned: Pink Floyd

That would either end in an epic battle, or else they'd all get drunk together, compare swords and be all like "Well, at least we're not total nerds like Battlelore!"

hmn, bands I'd want to invite to a PARTEH?

Scum
Hawkwind
Judas Priest

Everyone drinks and takes drugs until Rob Halford makes a pass at Casey Chaos.

Surgerydrugsrocknroll and Khar's win.

The Residents, Beefheart, and Zappa, if anything. That would be so badass that I would promptly EXPLODE.
Logged
but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

I went to a party like that!  Er, except instead of Iron and Wine, it was Belle Orchestre.  But STILL.

By party, he means concert, and by concert, I mean amazing burst of joy in my ears as wonderful music surrounded me.

Anyway, I'm going to choose bands that still exist, and rather than favorite bands, they're going to have to be ones that'd work amazingly well at a party.

Wolf Parade
Maximo Park
LCD Soundsystem

  It's be fantabulous.

One cannot have a party without the greatest party band of the last 30 years, the B-52s.

To round it out, I would add the Apples In Stereo and Primus.

DERK. MAKE YOUR AVATAR SMALLER. DO THAT AND I'LL STOP TYPING IN CAPS. DEAL?

Anyway, I'd have Wilco, Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd there.

The Blood Brothers
Head of Femur
M83

There would then be a freestyling and breakdancing competition between the bands.

Audioslave
The Foo Fighters
Pearl Jam

I don't really know many indie people, so I'll just pick the more mainstream out of my favourite bands list so we can have a fun party without people going 'who the fuck are these guys?'

You see, I put Paul Gilbert in there, who's really unknown, but completely accessible.  I've put his CDs on at a party with no serious music people (i.e. none of my friends) and everybody loved it.  I just like his take on that sort of music because it's 1) really well-done and 2) he's got a really cool sense of humour in his stuff.

I'd host Santana, The Beatles, and The Doors.  Pretty straightforward really good music.  You could dance, you could take drink or take drugs, you could head off to somewhere secluded and have hot sex (preferably with Jim Morrison), everyone's happy.
Logged
also at one point mid-sex she asked me "what do you think about commercialism in art?"

Haha... my bands would probably just look at eachother funny all night or do the weirdest cover of I Will Survive ever performed on stage.

Peaches
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Ben Folds

Ya got Peaches for the weird curse word laden background techno/rap beats while people nosh on food, Black Rebel for the folks to rock out to, and Ben is in there basically just to do his cover of Bitches Ain't Shit.
