Kraftwerk rock... or rather electronize?????? but I'm not sure they would be of use in this context

They're really more of a rock band that happens to use electronic instruments on a rare occasion.

Similarly, I'd suggest De Novo Dahl, but same principle.

Purest dance music I've yet come across.  Remarkably erudite and textured, considering.

When someone confuses indie and emo, tell them that one (emo) is a genre, and the other is a name given to bands on an independant label.

That's not entirely true. There are plenty of bands considered "indie" that are not on independent labels. Since I'm too lazy to write up a better definition, I will direct you to the Wikipedia article on indie music, which does a decent job of defining "indie."
