I have to say I love ABBA. At first I thought it was shit but later I found myself loving them in a completely non facetious way. Simply put I don't think any band has put more effort in polishing thier songs.
Bastardous Bassist:
Stravinsky. My dad loved him, and I played one of his works (Three Pieces for Unaccompanied Clarinet) before I really started to "get" any of it. Now it seems perfectly logical coherent (unlike lots of other 20th century music, e.g. Musique Concrete, which I still don't understand). Though, now that I think about it, I only started to like him after I had a copy of Rite of Spring. Maybe it's coincidence, maybe not.

Wait, what do Rite of Spring have to do with Stravinsky?
Although I love Stravinsky.
