What is a band that, upon first listen, you could not stand but after continuous listens became more enjoyable and eventually you fell in love?

Mine is Bear vs Shark. I think they are one of my favourite bands now, and I haaated them the first time I heard them. Basically, I decided to make this thread while listening to them and playing air guitar. This facilitated weird looks from the ol' roommate.

Definitely Death. I'm still not super into them yet, but the vocals were really not my style until about a week ago.

You should totally get into Death. Some of their stuff is a little iffy, but Human is so badass it hurts.

I'm still trying to get into Agoraphobic Nosebleed, but whatever.

The Cure.  I absolutely hated them when I first heard them.  "'Boys Don't Cry'?  How very original!" for example.  At that time, I was into Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine almost exclusively (though they still remain two of my favorite bands EVER) and any band that wasn't able to wring strange sounds from their guitars was pure bullshit to me.

However, after hearing "Pictures of You" and "One Hundred Years", I slowly came to realize the error of my ways.

I have to say the same thing about Bear Vs. Shark, although I don't think they are amazing or anything. The album that I got from them is growing on me.

... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead's Source Tags and Codes took awhile for me to get into, though I couldn't tell you why now.

Linkin Park...

Oh no wait! That's the opposite!

Actually, The Mars Volta, whom I love a lot now, sounded like a bunch of freaks (or are they?) until the 4th listening of De-Loused In The Comatorium. And

And Postal Service too. I was almost hating everything with something electro when I heard them, but when I got tired of punk rock, I gave them a second try... fortunately.

Damnit, I was about to post the exact same thing. I listened to that album two weeks ago, and BAM, all of a sudden, it clicked. I've been listening to it almost nonstop since. Definitely one of my favorite albums of all time now.

Oh, and the same thing happened with the Arcade Fire a few months ago. Gah, come out with a new LP already, I've listened to Funeral so many times I'm almost sick of it. Almost.

Mos bands I listen to are an aquired taste, but the bands I really hated at some point but now love are pretty much limited to Converge and Fantomas. Also I remember not liking Skyclad at first.

Broken Social Scene, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire ...

Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People was the first album off Jeph's RL  that I listened to. And when I first listened it I was all like what the hell is that stuff. But when I next listened to one month later I was just like wow that is great. And NOb Broken Social Scene are one of my favourite bands.

Undoubtably The Wrens.  I couldn't stand the singer's voice at first listen.  Now, however, I love "The Meadowlands" all the way through.  I guess it didn't help that I bought "In the Aeroplane over the Sea" at the same time because I never gave The Wrens a fair listen until about a year later; I listened to Neutral Milk Hotel constantly and forgot about The Meadowlands.

Others:
The New Pornographers
Bob Dylan (liked him well enough but didn't listen to him as often as I do now)
The Microphones

New Model Army. I got an album ages ago because of Skyclad's cover of 'Master Race', didn't pay it much attention and thought it was okay. Now I've taken time to listen to the lyrics, I see what an enormous influence they are on the 'clad, and that they are, themselves, pretty fucking awesome.

Kepler. When I first got Attic Salt, the only thing that I could pay attention to for more than five seconds was "Thorughbred Gin". I figured that it made good ambient music, though, and I warmed up to it.

Dead Raven Choir were a little hard for me to get into, which is odd because they're right up my alley; avant folk quasi-metal.

I haven't had anyone I hated on first listen but I have been freaked out and indifferent. I was freaked out by Under Byen's Det er Mig der Holder Trĉerne Sammen and forgot about them for a while then came to them and now they are my favourite band. I whore them every chance I get(see?)
I was indifferent with Cat Power - You Are Free, listened to it once then forgot about it and found it again, whereupon I loved it to bits.

Sigur Ros.
I heard their stuff the first time, and I wanted to die.  But now I like them.
Another one, actually, was Dogs Die in Hot Cars.  My friend introduced them to me, I was annoyed by them, but now I enjoy them.  Same with The Rocking Horse Winner.

Animal Collective. First song I heard was "Native belle" and I was like "okay, so the last half of this song is pretty cool.... but it's all effect'd to death." "We Tigers" first caught my attention, and I decided I liked them, but then I heard "Did You See The Words?" and the rest of Feels and just fell in looooooooove.

To list a few:

Pearl Jam.
Machine Head.
The Beatles.

is liking Pearl Jam starting to become fashionable or something?  like, when grunge hit everyone loved them because we were all caught up in the excitement of not having to listen to glam rock anymore.  then we all realised that they actually sucked and that they just sounded good by comparison.

I heard Radiohead's Hail to the thief when it first came out, and just absolutely hated it. But since hearing The Bends they have grown on me.

Also, Kasey Chambers (don't tell anyone) 'Not pretty enough' was a dreadful song, still is actually. But after listening to her other work, she is pretty good. Even if it is country.
