Stoner Rock........ uh, what was i sayin again?
Iwan:
On Stonerrock.com, Gary Arce said something about the term "stonerrock". He was not very pleased with it because most people put bands with an heavy groove next to the more ambient Yawning Man. Also, Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri aren't too happy with being labeled "stonerrock", even with the amount of drugs that they do.
And going by the bands that are being named here, "stonerrock" is pretty vague.
Stonerbands I listen to; Kyuss, Monster Magnet, recently discovered Hawkwind, Hypnos 69 are pretty good too, Yawning Man.
Not too many people mentioned Mastodon.
Maybe it's just me but I feel that stonerrock is gaining popularity. A lot of people seem appealed by it; youngsters who are looking for something heavier then your average pop and rock and headbangers who are fed up with the current state of the metal scene.
At one hand, I think it's great that those bands will get attention (most of it is great live music).
On the other hand, I'm a bit scared that some people will try to make money out of it by overexposition.
Kai:
Yes, but if they do try to make money off it, what will they use that money on? More drugs. Which means more stoner rock and more money for more drugs.

That was basically the manifesto of one of my favourite bands Spacemen 3:
Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs to (also the title of a bootleg).
Cpt.Fantastic:
It has to be Hawkwind and Kyuss for me.
'Doremi Fasol Latido' sounds so awesome on a record player.
nescience:
Fuckin' A on the "Brick Shithouse" deal. That shit got me through high school.
