Stoner Rock........ uh, what was i sayin again?
RUMBLEMOOSE:
I've mentioned this before, but I don't get high and yet I listen to Kyuss, Sleep, and a bunch of other "stoner" acts. Kyuss' Blues For the Red Sun is a great place to start if you're new to the genre I think.
Outshined:
I wonder if Pinback falls into this category? It is kind of hard to pinpoint what it is, exactly, that makes this band really great to me. Maybe it's the low quality production of the sound, with it's fuzzy, warm edges, or maybe it's the novel lyrics and unconventional descriptions the vocalist brings to his songs. They have a very pleasing hypnotic quality about them that makes you zone out in a good way, anyway.
Disgustipated:
I think people need to update their stoner rock definitions :/
I listen to quite a bit of stoner rock/metal.
Orange Goblin, Witchcraft, Yob and, of course, The Melvins are all among my favourites.
negative creep:
kyuss all the way. and dopethrone is a very good album indeed. but explosions in the sky? not really stoner rock as far as i know.
Luke C:
--- Quote from: ozphactor ---I thought Explosions in the Sky were post-rock. Isn't stoner rock more like Queens of the Stone Age, etc.?
--- End quote ---
IF QOTSA count then they are my favourite stoner rock band.
