Is anyone here into the band Liars? Their newest album, Drum's Not Dead, leaked about a month ago and is awesome.

i like liars sometimes but they mostly just destroy my brain. they're very interesting tho, so i respect that about them. funnily enough, i didn't even know this album was around until like a fortnight ago. i must be slipping in my old age.

Nah I didn't hear much about it either.

Not such a huge fan on record but I saw them support Sonic Youth a few years ago and they put on an awesome show. :)

My exposure to Liars so far is a lone song, that one called Loose Nuts on the Velodrome or something. It was okay...

to be honest, i thought their first album was awesome. it was really funky and off-the-wall, but not completely crazy. it was fun, without a doubt. it was just that they got really dark and all, took their shtick to extremes. like i said, it's still kinda cool but, i way prefer their earlier stuff, you know?

I normally wouldn't bump a post..

But their first LP was great. It very much reminded me of the same energy and atmosphere of the first Killing Joke Lp.

while I appreciate an artist looking to do something 'new' every record, I thought the 2nd lp suffered a bit. It wasn't a total loss but I don't listen to it nearly 1/2 as much.

the 2 eps - one was good, i thought the other sucked. Fins was the good one.

I'll have to check out the new lp. Maybe it'll be grand.

Liars isn't a terrible band name. Death Cab for Cutie is a terrible band name.

A terrible name that they stole from the The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, who are still totally awesome.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

well, everyone else is stealing their name from morrisey songs, so i guess it's a kinda relief.
