So let's get this straight: you're in Hell.  Maybe you did bad things in life, maybe you didn't believe, maybe you didn't repent, or maybe you just got unlucky with which deity you chose.  What's playing on the PA while you're burning in the lakes of eternal hellfire?  What songs do the demons of Hades choose to give you the poetic punishment of setting your unending suffering to music that you absolutely despise?

I choose:
John Mayer - Your Body is a Wonderland
Jack Johnson - Flake
Metallica - King Nothing
Queen - Don't stop me Now (okay, I actually love this song, but whenever I have panic attacks or have one of my very rare bouts of insomnia, this song inevitably starts playing in my head OVER AND OVER AND OVER and when I do go to Hell, it will most likely be the song playing)

(these are the only ones I can think of at this moment... I'm sure I could make a many-disc mix out of this)

Dave Matthews Band- their entire recorded history.

And though I wouldn't call the Polyphonic Spree "satanic" imagine having to listen to "Hold Me Now" for the rest of eternity. Maybe the devil has a keen sense of irony.

The Residents - Constantinople(not a bad song per se, but extremely annoying in the long run)
Coheed & Combria - Blood Red Summer(that voice!)
Die Toten Hosen - Alles Aus Liebe(and almost all 80's rock)
Kashmir - The Curse of Being a Girl(I like them, but this is just abysmal)
Slipknot - Duality
Outlandish - Man Binder Os På Hånd og Mund/Aícha
Limp Bizkit - Wish You Were Here(maybe the worst cover ever, second to Avril of course)
Merzbow - Crack Groove
Eminem - his discography?

there is more probably...

Funeral For A Friend's back catalogue, with "Hollaback Girl" and the latest Sugababes single playing between each song. And a My Chemical Romance gig every 6 hours.

I just threw up in my mouth a little even thinking about it.

(whispers)  Okay.  That "Covered In Punk" song by whatever pretentious fuck art-school-failure name the band were called.  That really would be banging my head against a brick wall for all eternity.  Also one serious head-a-splosion headache.

I enjoy a good deal of those songs without reservation. I've listened to Newsom on repeat for hours at a time. I guess we aren't coming from the same place here.

I was more in tune with the first half. I'm imagining a young British gentleman in the typical version of Hell, and he's sitting nicely on a rock with sensible shoes and a tan tie, and suddenly "Your Body Is a Wonderland" starts playing on repeat. He tries flinging himself off a cliff, but that doesn't work. He tries to beat himself to death, but he can't escape it. Finally, he looks down into a pool of his own blood, and instead of his own reflection, he sees John Mayer, singing back at him.

EDIT: If you need any convincing to listen to rap music, just listen to this one line from the great Eazy-E:

"But mister dope man, dope man, can I get a hit?/No ho, but you could get my duck sick."

I should probably feel childish for loving that line as much as I do, but what can I say?

erm..no...Unless you start hating lo-fi skronk rock a lot more, like that time you read one of my posts and ended up listening to Avarus by mistake.
I thought a bit more and being eternally trapped in a grocery store with the horrible muzak and soft rock they play on the PA would be extremly horrible. Gryff also has a point, though Summer of 69 is known to feature on grocery store playlists. This would be pretty bad too.
